finally turned a corner regarding my poker playing. lately, i've been winning a bit more than losing. texas holdem is just as challenging as chess and a lot more fun, in my opinion.
sure, there's luck involved, but a lot of opponent reading, strategy, etc. if anyone wants to chat about poker... like discussing how a particular hand was played, go for it!

*arches eyebrow* I rather play chess...It's more financially sound. But, continued luck with your game.

I play poker online mostly, and on my phone. i would like to play with people but most my friends are to dumb to know how and I'm to un commited to go to a casino or anything... yet.
When i play i usually play quite tight, but often thats just to get the image of someone who plays tight. unfortunatly it takes a lot longer to develop any rep. in online poker because you don't have the face-to-face factor. playing tight has the advatage that i can just click the 'fold all' button and walk away, and it just keeps it going. playin loose and aggressive though can get you in a pretty strong position though, or broke and out early.
i find that its best to play heavily after the deal, then wait for the flop when you have say a '4 '6 becaue it can easily result in a straight and no one else will think your playing it. again though that does soughta come to luck; getting say a '5 '7 '8 flop. but thats just an example. what i mean is... people don't play for straights very often, and when you get one people never suspect it.
