I'm kinda growing back into chaos magic. I never really left it but i haven't used it's techniques in a pure type form for sometime. But now have recently returned to its charms. This was because: 1. i was in a pass-over time and needed a fresh direction, or rather a different one
2. because i needed a simple spell/ sigil done for a friend and
3. I decided to read some pdf's (ia ia - free books ;D)
Admittedly when i first started at chaos magick, some time ago now, i never really read much on it. I read of course venger books and discussions on this forum. I also read portion and bit of liber null and some general foot notes on the topic. And up until now never needed anything more. Simply found everything i needed and didn't see the use for anything else. Evidently i did pretty much know everything one would need to know and it worked.
Anyway so just read condensed chaos (in a sought breeze, ifound myself knowing most of it already; as would anyone who's been involved with it before) and have started to make a dent in prime chaos. And whilst they aren't teaching me much i didn't already now on the practice and fundamental state that is chaos magic i find them quite interesting.
This really because i find Phil Hine quite a readable author. Also, his descriptions of his own experiences with magic, and more particularly chaos magic are quite similar if not some cases exactly as mine. Its not often that one finds an author who can talk about magic in a practical and grounding way. Such is the quality of Venger's writing. Where that he couldn't produce such books and literature i would perhaps have drifted off from the Cult of Cthulhu.
all in all, phil hine=good author IMO.
One other thing, whats with renaming his book 'condensed chaos' 'oven ready chaos'... !?! I don't anything about the other writer who caused this bump, but fuck you!
