Madguten sent me this info from this Yahoo Group:
groups.yahoo.com/group/cult_of_cthulhu_order_of_absu/message/2310
I find it interesting because of how it ties Nergal with Cthulhu, and it mentions the Scorpio sign, which I happen to be.
----------------------------------------------------------------
I write this message to talk about our dearest Cthulhu (lol), and
about an importan discovery that I've recently made.
A sentence that, according to Lovecraft in his tale "The Call of
Cthulhu", would be related to the Cthulhu Cult is the famous sentence in the "r'lyehian" language, spoken by Cthulhu and his minions):
«PH'NGLUI MGLW'NAFH CTHULHU R'LYEH WGAH'NAGL FHTAGN»
... which Lovecraft translated as:
«IN HIS HOUSE AT R'LYEH DEAD CTHULHU WAITS DREAMING»
Apparently neither this phrase nor its translation would be especially
interesting, except for the fact that BOTH of them have EXACTLY the
same number of letters:
PhngluiMglwnafhCthulhuRlyehWgahnaglFhtagn = 41 letters
InHisHouseAtRlyehDeadCthulhuWaitsDreaming = 41 letters
Now in which ways does this number 41 shows us something REALLY
interesting?
Well... this is a very curious number, because it is the gematric
(qabalistic) value of the hebrew word HUL, which means "Terror".
Another point of interest is that this word appears in Cthulhu's own
name (!!!), precisely in the middle of it:
Cthulhu = ct.HUL.hu
This word "HUL" is also used in a Pantacle from the Greater Key of
Solomon (GKoS), which is a rather famous grimoire, which, by the way,
I've used as the image for my portuguese/brasilian discussion list
about the Cult of Cthulhu, which you can see here:(Only portuguese speaking people - Sorry guys! -Esbara'kesh)
br.groups.yahoo.com/group/KUTULU/
(click on link above to go to origional article to see image.. sorry I don't know how to post images yet!)
If you see that image, you'll note that near the drawing of the
Scorpion there is a hebrew word which is repeated four times: above,
below, on the right, and on the left of the scorpion. That's the word
HUL ("Terror"), written in Hebrew.
A very curious fact about this Pantacle is that it is the Fifth
Pantacle of Mars, which has the image of a Scorpion. By a curious
"coincidence", the astrological sign of Scorpio is ruled by Mars (in
the babylonian/traditional Astrology), and is intimately associated
with water, especially the "fixed waters" like swamps or the watery
underworld... exactly like Cthulhu!
It surely isn't only by chance that the sign of Scorpio rules the time
of the year near the Halloween or Samhain (on the night between
October 31st and November 1st), which symbolically corresponds to a
"passage between worlds" and to the "entrance to the Underworld", when
the world of spirits interacts with the world of the living. The real
astrological date for this celebration is exactly when the Sun passes
through the 15th degree of Scorpio, around November 8th.
Another interesting thing is that in the sumerian and babylonian
mythologies (where the Traditional Astrology was born), the deity
which corresponded to Mars was NERGAL, the Lord of the Underworld
(KUTU or CUTHA) and husband of Ereshkigal. This god has been lately
compared to Cthulhu himself by the students of the so-called "Simon
Necronomicon", since one of his names, Lu-Kutu or KUTULU (which means
"Man of Kutu", "Man of Cutha", Lord of the Underworld), is very
similar to Cthulhu.
Are all of these things mere coincidences or, as I think, is there a
whole LOGIC of correspondences that may bring us even more revelations?
All comments will be more than welcome!
Best regards,
Alektryon Christophoros

Now if this is true, this further ties Cthulhu with a historical "mythology", further validating how ancient this God is..
It also shows that the Elder Gods, the so-called enemies of the A:O, are really all and the same.. I don't know why I never noticed this..
