I have been working on a painting (on and off) for a long time now. It is the first time i paint on a large canvas (90x120 cm or something). I have paint enough, but it is taking me forever. Its just layer upon layer upon layer again and again. I developed my painting technique (or lack of) painting A4 and A3 paper sheets. Painting a canvas this big requires a quite different approach than my normal one. But thats good for me, it will teach me a thing or two. It has just been so long since i have posted a painting so i thought that i would post it here today and then maybe i'll get it finished before tomorrow. Keep in mind the painting isnt done yet, it need many more layers in many spots and there are a few things i havent painted into the image yet. A few days agoThis morningAs said, it is not done yet. For instance the nose isnt going to have a big brown spot on it, once i have given it some three/four layers of yellow it will just make the nose area a little darker. I'll post more pictures as soon as it is done Ia! Ia! Cthulhu fhtagn!

I like the painting, it is well done. I would like to see something a little more impressive next time, as this one is a bit simple.

I like the painting, it is well done. I would like to see something a little more impressive next time, as this one is a bit simple. "impressive"? "simple"? really, bro? in music there is something called "the pocket"... the groove. you can play really in the pocket ("simple") and just that bare minimum can be really powerful and effective and anything more would be way too much. point being, you would make a shitty critic, and i dont know why madguten didnt say so himself, maybe hes too nice, but how fucking dare you ask him to do something "more impressive" next time... its fucking ART, dude... SELF-expression. you want something more "impressive", then buy some paint and a canvas and fucking get it done. you've been saying some borderline fight-worthy shit in other threads too, dude... i dont know what your deal is but im not into it. its insulting. and Madguten... i fucking DIG the shit out of your work and wouldnt want it any other way... your work is YOU, dont change a god damn thing unless its you, the artist, wanting to change it. fuck critics.

I REALLY appreciate the support, but i dont think that the critique was THAT harsh, i mean, i am not Giger, but im cool with that. More "impressive" paintings are also good, but i make art foremost to make it, i am in love with the process, lol It self expression as you said. But i would also like to see me pull a Goya, lol I love artists like Giger and S.V Michell. I just havent summoned the focus to do so yet, and i am not much for learning and using known techniques, i dont think i need lessons to express myself artistically, but i see the value in it, of course. If one REALLY desires to become a master painter, then lessons and techniques are among the best tools one can obtain (i think). Anywhoo, the painting is far from done yet, it SHALL become a little less simple before it is finished.

The painting is still not done, its taking me far longer than i could have imagined, if i am to paint such sizes in the future then i must rethink my approach to painting. Next time i post a picture about this, it will be finished.

Very nice. I like that we're being allowed to see it "evolve". From the first shot you took of it to the last one you've posted, it's getting better each time, and i'm looking forward to seeing what you do to/with it next.
It puts me in mind of a tarot card image. I don't know what it is about it. It's uncomplicated and iconic. The symbols/runes really add to it.
Keep it going man. I wanna see more.
