This man is the father of modern ambient music (The precursor of this genre is Erik Satie). He is also one of the founders and board members of the Long Now Foundation (http://www.longnow.org/).
Here is an example of his ambient work: Brian Eno H.Budd The Plateaux of Mirror First Light
This is a colaboration with David Byrne(there is cool atheism reference in the song): Brian Eno & David Byrne "Strange Overtones"

i dont like eno. its too funky. sounds like really well-produced high-concept porn music for real lol. also i need to look up the definition of the word "ambient" as pertaining to the musical genre because unless my understanding of what ambient music is is all fucked off i dont really hear any ambient qualities so much... sounds like some funk, mang!!!
and i should hope that one song is never our soundtrack lol i couldnt imagine us blaring that funky 70's shit strolling in our Lovecraftian best and taking control of any room lol.
but hey man its chill... deftones are my favorite band but i dont expect them ever having anything to do with the CoC. they're a huge part of MY life and thats fine.
not to pick on you, but understand when someone says something like "this should be a part of the CoC in an official kind of way" then its going to be scrutinized, you know?

Not all Eno's work is ambient, only some albums like "Music for Airports" or "Apollo" are. Hear this ambient piece from "Music for Airports":
I am sorry for making suggestions that it should be official CoC music, it was only a joke, nothing serious. This one could be more adequate (the call of ktulu s&m metallica):

I do like Eno's work...or at least his ambient work... But in no way should it be the theme for the CoC. I think the theme for the CoC should be something by Morbid Angel Personally, I'm a HUGE Slipknot fan.

So you like Slipknot but you treat it unjustly, and you have the balls to call me a douche?. Man, either you are blind to your own shortcomings or are you stupid.
P.S I don't like Slipknot, but his unjustified cruelty struck me as foolish and stupid. Not to mention hypocritical, since he called me a douche.

Lets keep the discussion civilized yeah? Btw, about Slipknot, you guys probably know this because you are natively english tongued, but i didnt, there is an actual rope knot called a Slip Knot. I always wondered, what the hell is a slipknot, well now i know. ;D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slip_knotI like the concept of Slipknot and the early music they did, but they seemed to turn softer and softer (on the metal side of things). I think they are probably great live.

.
you may be an OK guy in certain situations, Miguelantonio, but it's clear that you aren't making friends here. originally, i asked you to join the CoC forum because of your interesting links to Matrix-related philosophy.
but instead, you come here with Brian Eno. and seem determined to get into a flame war with another forum member. i gave you a chance last week with my warning... sorry that it hasn't worked out.
yep, it's ban time for Miguelantonio. i'm too old and have far too little time to manage petty squabbles, passive-aggressiveness, whining, flaming, trolling, and related shenanigans.
and for B'Lahk'Neeth, let me say this... people will occasionally rub you the wrong way. in future, i ask that you give people a chance to acclimate themselves to the forum before tearing into them. criticizing people and being generally abrasive right out of the gate might make some people just want to leave. i want everyone to speak their mind, but for the first dozen posts or so cut new forum members a bit more slack.

Im glad thats over ;D
It is pointless to anger-battle over the internet, or at least it seems unproductive to me.
I tried to see if i could pull him out of it a couple times by changing subject, but the dude just kept getting into heated arguments.

VSyou're totally right, HP. i mean i was trying to be a bit less abrasive at first, then i saw some posts you made warning him and whatnot, and probably very mistakenly took that as a cue for me to get a little more in his face. i see where i fucked up. thats your decision to make and you action to take, not mine. you were so right about me being hardwired for Instigation, but i understand your point completely about doing a little (or a lot?) less of it here at home. ive never really torn into anyone like this guy, though. i think i waited until his 20 post mark or so to do it, as you just advised... not trying to cover my ass or anything, but i want you to know i am a reasonable guy and i do apply logic to all things, leastways i try to hahaha. i just reached the point in the 4th Way where it talks about not doing what we want to do as a means to gaining self-will? is that the right verbiage? anyway here's what im going to do: im going to fight my inflammatory, incendiary nature more... try and be more balanced here. i just.... fuck, when i want to speak my mind sometimes it just flies out of my mouth (or in this case, from my fingertips)... something i definitely need to keep an eye on. so thank you for the criticism, HP... ill be looking into that for you, for me, and the rest of us.

But I did hear they did a Vermillion pt 3 Thats ridiculous, get some new shit lol i love how this morphed from eno into flame-battle into a fucking slipknot thread hahahahaha!!! but word, fahy: im of the mind that volume 3 was their best, and the pinnacle of what i guess they're still trying to do now... but failing. iowa was fucking amazing how merciless of an album it was. sooooo heavy. really showcased their deathmetal roots. then they just opened that shit up and brought in some awesome melody and straight-up rock into their sound with volume 3. all hope is gone is just tired, kind of cliche, and boring. a few good tracks but on the whole i dont know if they can climb back out of this one... their form of metal is on its way out if not dead already. to all metal fans: embrace the new era!!! check out: Suicide Silence See You Next Tuesday White Chapel my band (shameless plug), The Ninth Gate ( www.myspace.com/entertheninthgate ) metal is heavier than ever and very very much alive!!!

kind of a triple-headed monster. i don't really think you were that out-of-line with miguelantonio, but the next guy to come along might actually be great CoC material, yet start off with a thin-skin, not knowing how to take perceived hostility.
so you're fine, just be aware. jumping into doing the opposite of your nature or trying to correct deficiencies, areas lacking, or counterbalancing one's chief feature is not the way to go. observation alone is the best thing you can do. watch yourself, what you do, how you do things, and the 'I's that take control at different points. like quitting something cold turkey, it's far too easy to fall off the wagon.
no one can run before they walk. small steps every day is preferable to one giant effort every so often. remember that anything as arduous as the 4th way is a loooong process. it can't be mastered in a few months with efforts of infrequent maintenance. no, it's a permanent lifestyle change that takes years to fully absorb and constant struggle to ultimately Awaken.

every psychic or visionary or starchart or horoscope ive consulted has always told me without inquiry on my part that i have an excellent intuition that with practice can develop into a good psychic skill. so i try to sharpen it and go with it. and i most certainly intuited that that guy was not for us and wouldnt last at all, so that was reason one why i was so harsh. everyone else, im all about civil debate, if it even comes to that... but pretty much i see eye-to-eye with all of you on most things so the point is kind of moot.
but in the future, HP... whats the "policy" here? i mean do you endorse outspokenness and the speaking of minds? or is critiquing posters/members on this level your arena and yours alone? i dont want to rock the boat, you know... its just really easy for me to reach that point where silence is not an option anymore, maybe a bit more than most people.
born instigator, lol... god, seriously!!!

Ah, B'Lahk'Neeth, I don't mean to be offensive but those bands aren't really metal. Suicide Silence are deathcore and deathcore is RUINING metal.
As for Slipknot's thirds album, I quite like it. It's got the same edge to it that Iowa did, but with a bit more brutality. I didn't like Volume 3 as much.
And no, they didn't do a Vermillion Pt 3. Someone just posted a Stone Sour song online saying it was a Slipknot song, but it wasn't, trust me, I'd know.
And I saw Slipknot live only a week and 1 day ago...They were absolutely AMAZING, best live band I've ever seen....ever...Greatest gig of my life.
It's not good to see such antagonism towards each other on the boards, because I love each member of this cult equally but when they go for each other's throats I don't know what to do.

And any band with the heaviness of Suicide Silence and The Ninth Gate are metal bands. You don't know a lot of different music if you don't think they are.

I know! Though I do hate it when people categorize things in the wrong genre of music. I'm not picky, metal is metal. Rap is rap. County is country. But seriously. if your gonna categorize music, you gotta know your shit. For example: I hate it when people think that Fall Out Boy is punk. There's gotta be something wrong with them.
