I just wrote this up for one of my tutorials on servitors. I thought I'd share.
Basic Types-
Single use: The single use servitor is one of the more easy servitors to create. The best usage is for single uses are healing, hexes or curses, luck, or protection.
Long term: This is one of the more common type of servitors. Most Chaotic magicians keep one or two of these active at one time. Most popular are protection, luck, inspiration, sex / lust servitors.
Servitors by Feeding type -
Feeding from the magician: These types of servitors are built like a battery. They exist with what's called a "dead man's switch". When you stop feeding them they dissipate or automatically reabsorb back into you. You have to keep on re feeding the servitor with your own energy. Usually at an appointed time and place. Material bases are used in this type usually without exception. It just makes recharging the servitor infinitely more easy.
Feeding from the universe: These type of servitor feed off of the natural energy of the universe. Matter and energy are interchangeable on microscopic scales. The servitor feeds off of the microscopic energies to have an almost unlimited supply of energy. Kind if a "set it and forget it servitor". Usually protective types feed off of the universe.
Feeding from emotion: These types of servitor can be the most powerful and the most dangerous. These are the ones that can be unintentionally created through a strong emotion in the magically inclined and the psychically sensitive. These types feed off of one or more emotions in the person that creates them, causing adverse effects if created unintentionally.
Feeding from a person (Vampiric): This is one of the more complicated types of feeding methods for a servitor. There are very few, if any, positive effects this servitor has on the target. It feeds off of and drains the emotion or energy that the creator chooses. Then it can either be used to fully feed the servitor or channeled and filtered back to the magician to feed the magician. This type is quite dangerous compared to the other feeding types. They tend to turn on the creator if the emotion or energy level is not high enough to sustain it. Also, if the emotion is not properly filtered to feed the magician the negativity and negative emotions associated with the drain enter into the magician with probable negative effect..
Common Usage -
Luck: Intelligently making things "go your way". Luck gets pushed in your favor more than usual. This is one of the easier types of servitor and also one of the more useful.
Viral: This type can be of any other type or form but with one exception. This one has the ability to reproduce. Viral servitors are very dangerous if misused. They can take over a magician if programmed improperly. For the most part, they act like virii. They consume and reproduce until the host is dead, incapacitated or drained fully. This type requires the most amount of energy due to having to feed many many mini servitors.
Healing: Though not the most common, this is one of the more useful if you have a healing talent. Chaos healing, while rarely practiced, make the most use of this servitor type. A lot of Chaos Healers prefer using one time use servitors for most situations all the while keeping one long term for themselves.
Protection: This is the most common type of servitor. This servitor type is used to bolster or in place of a constant psychic shield. It can also be used to convert and filter any and all negative energy sent at the magician into usable energy to the magician. It can also be used to reflect any negativity back that the person sending the negativity. This, however, can lead to unforeseen consequences and harming of people that you don't mean to harm. The servitor is blind to the attacker. It lives only to defend you.
Communication: It's your basic ping type of servitor. Usually used to send a one or two word message to the psychically sensitive. This type is usually the first type of servitor that magicians practice with. It's usually benign and very clumsy by design.
Lust: While sometimes considered morally questionable, lust servitors are just that. Made from lust. They're mostly used by magicians to attract sex. Use your own lust to alter the perceptions of the opposite sex to make them more incline to have sex with you or bring you into situations where you can get sex with little to no commitment. While quite easy to make, they're incredibly hard to control. They have been known to attempt to take over a person more than any other type due to the intense biological need to reproduce. The more primal the need, the more powerful the servitor.
Anger: Intentional anger type servitors are one of the stronger types. This type of servitor usually encompasses most curse and hex type servitors. While powerful, it can be hard to control. If left unabsorbed or out too long it tends to gain a mind of its own more than other types. Unintentional anger servitors tend to be quite blind and quite focused to hurt the target of your anger. Usually unintentional servitors are only created with an extreme amount of anger or long term repressed anger.
Inspiration: This particular type of servitor is more common with artsy type folks. It is commonly used for a little push to the brain, allowing you to tap more into your subconscious as needed. This type of servitor can become quite addictive. You can become dependent on this type due to the fact that you don't have to use as much creative energy on your own. You use the servitor's energy. This can make your almost lazy. While it's good to use as a short term solution to writers block, long term use is not recommended.
Unintentional: It's always a good idea to keep a handle on your own emotions to avoid creation of unintentional servitors. The magically inclined and those that make servitors intentionally are especially susceptible to unintentional servitor creation. Unintentional servitors are hard to reabsorb due to the lack of a material base and a form that you are aware of. Also, unintentional servitors have the ability to be absorbed by or absorb unknown entities making the servitor almost impossible to reabsorb. Destruction of an unintentional servitor is complex and sometimes too advanced for the casual magical user. It involves severing the astral connection to the servitor from the creator using astral weaponry created through energy manipulation.
Any other emotion: A servitor can be made intentionally and unintentionally by any other emotion. Once again, the strength of the emotion gives to the strength of the servitor.
