For everyone here, how did you become into the Occult? Some people cite music and things like that.
I actually saw a show on Scifi channel about Urban Legends and these girls were doing Witchcraft and that's what got me into it. Ahh, though that was about three years ago.

I had always been in to it. but i started taking it seriously after watching a tv show about haunted houses, that show is the catalyst to what i am today.

I also had to dig further than i can clearly remember,
I have older brothers, so i guess i have been inspired from birth.
I used to search the libraries for horror stories and books about witchcraft and satanism and such. Always been a sucker for horns, claws and cryptic writings. ;D

Playing with ordinary playing cards, I devised what is known as Tarot, black being no, red being yes. And the numbers being how likely it was. I was about 9, then I got a book of witchcraft mysteriously from a friend. And I've always known things, so I guess it found me.

Well I didn't even realize it was "occult" because I was into it my whole life.
Influences? Probably dream experiences as a young child and what my grandparents told me about those.
From the psychic dreams, to researching parapsychology, which inevitably crosses paths with the occult...

i've always had paranormal experiences. I guess when I seriuosly got into the "occult" when I was 16 yrs old. I haven't looked back.
I agree that to study the paranormal is a good way too start. I currently belong to a paranormal website. Talk of what most people would call crazy than squirrel shit I would fit the bill. I learned over the years to take everything no matter how strange with a pinch of salt. You have to have a good reality check in place. Basically don't believe everything that happens in a paranormal event. be skeptical, it helps far more than you realise.
But basically as to all of the above do normal day to day things and "if" something strange happens don't go batty. It isn't going to happen as often you think.
Just my thoughts

Power hunger....
Changed since then... (saw how the 'desperate' craving for power effected other people, and with an upbrining saying stuff like defend the weak, it didn't play out that well lol)
Now it's purely for educational purposes and self-defense/knowing how to defend against powers it could bring...

First I seen people using Tarot Decks that was not dressed in the general gypsy-clad for a Fortune-Teller. I asked them to give a prediction for me and it actually came true. Then I seen some movies such as "The Shining", "The Coven", another movie about a Tornado in Romania called Meta Tempesta, which I ironically is Latin for "The Storm of the Mind", then I seen the Craft, then I met some distant relatives that was into Sorcery and they gave me a link to www.spellsandmagic.comAfter I read through that website I found some useful spells and rituals and I got curious and practiced some of them. Nothing happened and then I was literally "pulled" towards the Emerald Tablets of Thoth, the Atlantean by some higher power. Ever since then, I've been researching, practicing, and respecting Sorcery. I've learned much in the fields of Sorcery, Mysticism, Gnosticism, the Kabbalah, Jewish Mysticism, Black Magick, Grimoires, White Magick, Chaos Magick, Dream Sorcery, and Transmutational Sorcery. Basically everything to do with the Occult, both old and new, except for these few things. 1.) Reiki 2.) Hoodoo 3.) Reading Tea Leaves 4.) I Ching 5.) Reading the Runes 6.) Taoism 7.) Hinduism 8.) Feng Shui Then I seen the movies "Kull The Conquerer", "Krull", "Conan The Barbarian", "Conan the Destroyer", "Red Sonja", and "HP Lovecraft's Necronomicon" and got into the Cthulhu Mythos (the stories). Then I started experimenting with the grimoires of the Mythos and learned a lot about the secrets of ancient grimoires and how to make them work for myself.

hehe. the earliest memories were of only feeling real in nature. i hated modern consensus reality from the start of school until i dropped out of college. ive had dreams of witches, druids, and faeries my whole childhood. when i was 8 or so one of my mothers friends left a deck of tarot cards over at the house. it was still there a few years later when we moved. i learned to read it by about 14. got into witchcraft for awile around 10th grade and later into ceremonial magick ala crowley and lovecraftian/luciferian concepts about 19. from there i got into chaos magick ala spare and carrol and ethnobotanical shamanism and rewrote my dna using neurolinguistic programming and ceremonial magick to promote accelerated learning and increased mental ability. I had the knowledge and conversation (so to speek) about 22. since then ive been an invisible with a white badge. an amateur alchemist now, hollow inside at 27.
