I found this list of worldwide sea gods while searching for information on Inuit mythology. LATER EDIT: The list has now been modified so it is at least twice the size it was when we beganEDIT: The list have now been modified to include ALL sea/water gods however agreed fictional or funny they might be, also the list will now include sea monsters from Kraken to Godzilla. I dont think it will be too confusing. And i have been wanting to add Godzilla to the list from the beginning anyway ;D It will also make the list more useful and in time unique. I was going to add Dagon. But i dont know if that would be fair, the as the fish god status of Dagon is widely discussed and disagreed on by scholars. I had to make the banner for this topic to make sure there would be room enough for the longer description lines.
If you know any other sea gods, just post them here and i will modify them into the list.

Tiamat - Summerian KANE - Part of the Hawaiian Creator trinity, god of the sea Nodens -celtic sea god
I'll come up with more later. This list could end up getting rather long.
Um, sorry to nit-pick....Posiedon and Neptune are the same---sure that could maybe be said about some others on this list, but these two are surrounded by identicle stories, and are geographicly a sea-shells throw away...its like listing Yahweh and Jehovah as different dudes. Just my opinion.
Also Apsu---he is a fresh water god! Love they guy and all, but i don't think this list is for him.

Thanks for the info (and the additions). I know little of Greek mythology. I will update the list tomorrow and write the new information into it, its getting late here (00:50), and i have to watch an episode of Trailer Park Boys on Google before i go to bed.
And yeah, the list COULD end up being rather long (and neat ;D).

not sure how relevant this is to your list, but i just thought of the Kuo-Toa Goddess Blibdoolploop. the Kuo-Toa are a humanoid fish race in the D&D Mythos.
personally, i would include Dagon as well.

Agreed about Dagon. Wether his fish-god status is debated by scholars or not, he has been widely considered a fish god for a notable span of time.....And I am not only refering to fans of HPL, who, in ignorance of Dagons position as an agricultural deity, went ahead and believed Lovecrafts assertion of fishiness, no.
The fishiness of Dagon is asserted within Paradise Lost.
John Milton has spoken.
This next one however, probebly does not belong on the list:
Libertina (from Terry Pratchets Disc-World novels) The Goddess of the Sea, Apple Pie, Certain Types of Ice Cream and Short Lengths of String.
What about King Merovee?

Who the devil is King Merovee? ;D
The list have been modified, also now the list includes sea monsters as well.
I would rather have one too many than one missing on the list. ;D

Merovee might be somehow related to the Sacred Bloodline of the Merovingian dynasty dating back to Atlantis, I'd guess...
From wikipedia:
"In Finnish mythology, Ahti or Ahto is the god of the sea and of fishing, portrayed as a man with a beard of moss. He is the consort of Vellamo, and they dwell in the undersea palace of Ahtola. He probably possesses some fragments of Sampo, which was broken and then lost at sea after a battle. Also Vetehinen and Iku-Turso live underwater with Ahti."

Also, there is a lake-spirit or monster called Näkki (Fin) or Nix in many Scandinavian/Germanic cultures: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NixThere's also a brand of condoms in Finland called Näkki...

Yakumama - sea monster who inhabits the mouth of the Amazon
Kappa - Japanese water elementals, inhabiting rivers and ponds, trouble makers
BTW I definately agree with the inclusion of Godzilla. But looking over the current list--using the current standards of all inclusiveness, I believe that I could double its size right now, without even turning to google or wiki.
What about Nessie?
Nessie - Lake monster from Loch Ness, Scottland
Achelous - Greek river god
the Sirens - Seductress bird-women, luring ships to their doom, greek
Hydra - many headed serpent who dwelt within a lake in greece
Chessie - Sea serpent inhabiting the Chesapeake Bay (eastern USA)
Bessie - Another nessie like, serpent-like lake monster, this one from Lake Eerie
Mussie - Monster living in Muskrat Lake, Canada
Alright so I am cheating now, totalling looking some of these names up. Anyhoot, in this world of ours there is a LOT of local lake monsters. I've already listed two which I could arrive at by car in 6 hours or less--and according to wiki there is a third, even closer to where I live, though it is so clearly fruedulent (a marketing plow, really) I will not list it here. Nessie, Chessie, Bessie and Mussie might have some goofy names, but at least there is a decent background story.
Other than lake monsters, there's also got to be many more species of water elementals out there...We got Nixxies, Kappa.....um.
Undines -Germanic tradition, female water spirits
Tatoskok - the Abenaki name for a monster currently known as Champ, dwelling in lake Champlain USA/Canada

Cool, thanks for the help Gargenstein. The list is really growing fast, it is already much bigger than the original list i found. It now has near a hundred entries. Very nice.

Eegads! How could we possibly have forgotten the Nommo?
Nommo - Amphibious fish-gods from outer space who informed the Dogon tribe of North Africa about the existence of Sirius minor--years before science had the instrumentation to varify the claim
I keep trying to lay off this ever growing list of yours, like to give it a day to breathe or something, but everytime I log on BAM I find myself feeling that old fishy feeling again. You know, kinda like that "not-so-fresh-feeling".
Nevermind!

Libertina is and never had anything to do with the sea. She is the Roman goddess of liberty. Salacia is female and is linked to Neptune. Neptune is Greek and took his functions from the Roman Poseidon. Finally you have forgotten the titian god Oceanus, who encircles the earth with his waters and all rivers come from him. He is Greek. As a writer of ancient deities of all pantheons I just thought I should put you straight. There are also some Egyptian sea deities but at present I don't have that data at hand.
