Hey,
I rarely dream, and when I do (or rather when I recall them) they are irrelevant to anything spiritual (that I am aware of)
What are some things I can do to encourage dreaming relative to the Cthulhu Mythos, and any techniques to help remembering (I read about one guy doing the make a mark on each hand that will signify "I will remember what I dream tonight" Everytime you see it resay that, I will try this over the coming weeks)

I also seem to experience this problem. In the book Nocturnal Witchcraft by Konstantinos he describes some ways in order to control dreams or to do what is called "Lucid Dreaming". I'm not quite sure of internet resources, although these sites may be of help. www.spellsandmagic.com/www.angelfire.com/empire/serpentis666/IA!

I tried the dream recall excersises with decent success. Before I slept I receited to myself " I will remember my dreams tonight, I will wake up after each one" and had good results. I woke up constantly throughout the night and was able to recall some good dreams. I had a piece of paper and pen ready next to me to write but didnt recall any dreams of spiritual relivance.
So over the coase of this week I will continue to do this and see if results remain positive. Right now if I can just recall more dreams that would be great, then once I am used to that I will start looking into how to guide them towards certain aspects.
My ultimate goal would be to enter the dreamlands, or to find the true Necronomicon (the one only found in your dreams)
Another question: I found this on Wiki
1. Where is the reference to this in Lovecrafts works
Nevertheless I will keep my eyes peeled for staircases
Also another question: I work alone at a night shift job and pretty much zone out when im working (alone in a big building with the lights off haha). I often day dream while I work and imagine (I am guessing imagine would be the best word) very detailed events. Now since this is still just day dreaming and thus guidable I am able to see things related to the Myhtos much easier. My question is do these Day Dreams carry any crediability to truth?

Hmmm, possibly.
I am not sure exactly, although someone else here may know.
I have had dreams of Cthulhu before, although these are very rare. My dreams, usually don't make much sense.
&
Working the graveyard shift by yourself...how much more of a Lovecraftian profession could there be? It's pretty much begging for something paranormal to happen. ;D

Are you ready for the twist though? Its the graveyard shift at a catholic church..haha.
I dont mind though, like I said im the only one in the building so whatever. Once in a while I could swear I saw see a figure through a window of a classroom or turning a corner but theres never anyone there when I check...oh well.
The only thing I ever had happen once that I can say was interesting was one day when I was leaving (walking across a empty parking lot at about 4 am) I could swear I saw a black figure watching me with a huge smile (you know the way to big that its abnormally creppy) It was like I could see himm but not physically, anyways it only happened that once.
Anyways I am at work now and should be paying attention to that, so I will post tommorow and let you know if I could remember my dreams like last night
(BTW thanks for the dream recall advice and conversation)

Catholic church at night, that does sound very Lovecraftian. As i woke up this morning i just remembered something. Whenever i sleep in a environment that i am not used to, i have a bigger chance of remembering dreams. Try moving your bed, or turning around so your feet are in the head section, perhaps. When i was a kid, i used to take my madras and place it all around the house, sleeping in the weirdest places. Now i get wild dreams whenever i am on a trip ("trip" as in "journey" or "tour"). ;D EDIT: I have had dreams of being hunted for a while now. Last one was this night. I remember hiding behind a some low thing, waiting for my pursuer so i could sneak attack him. It worked ;D I suckered that mf good. ;D In a recent dream i remember hiding behind a big tree, but then when i looked out from the tree to see if my pursuer was gone, it was closing in on the tree and i was more or less trapped. The surroundings in those dreams are sunny and big. There are mountains there, so tall that even looking at them is nerve wrecking and scary. This night, in my dream. I remember pointing at the top of one of the mountains and saying to someone; That mountain top reaches way out of the atmosphere, one can never go there (i recently saw a show on mountains and thin air, maybe thats the reason). But there are also houses. And humans, with standard clothes on, the people who hunt me in the dreams do not seem like soldiers, they seem like citizens. They are armed only with human hate. Why wont they leave me alone? ;D Its not a problem though, Being hunted is a natural thing.

Its always good to be popular ;D
Anyways I had another pretty good night, I was really tired after work so didnt do to much of the dream recall excersizes, I did it a couple times though and woke and was able to recall some stuff. Like I said just working on recall is good enough for me.
I was reading up on Lucid dreaming and realized I have done this before but was unaware that I might be able to munipulate it that much, I will have to keep that in mind.

My question is do these Day Dreams carry any crediability to truth? 1- I suppose it must be from one of the RPG books. Lovecraft himself doesn't lay all the explanations out like that, he liked to shroud everything in mystery. 2- Sometimes, I'm only able to include certain concepts in my dreams after I daydreamed it in abundant details. I found such artificial "building blocks" to significantly enrich later dreams. And when they're well made, they can be re-used indefinately.

Haha, yeah I suppose they are. Although I didn't really analyze it, I was just kidding. Although, I suppose these days noone would be buried with an amulet that would summon powers from Hell either. IA!

If anyone has an amulet from hell, though, he can always ask to be buried with it in his will. Or getting a special funeral plan that would allow to use one's own death as a magical instrument.

Hey, My dream recall ability has continued to well this week and I had my first dream last night that was interesting enough to write down.
It was pretty heavly influinced by my reading of Alahzred: Author of the Necronomicon.
I was escorting a little girl (maybe a sister although I dont have one) through a building, it was similiar to a medieval age mansion or castle with narrow window slits and christian iconography. Throughout the dream a guide, female (possible goddess) of unkown origion was coming and going with advise. She was etheral and not in any danger throughout the dream
When we first arrived the goddess first told us to stay out of the dark at all costs, the sun oustide was movign fast back and forth over the windows casting light around in slits, as long as we were touching one slit of near a candle we were safe. Throughout the building were shades (ghosts) that didnt seem to notice us, many were praying. The guide told us that the lesser gods has no sway here and that they prayed in vain.
Anyways my goal turned out to be to get the little girl to a audience chamber so she could talk to some guy there (king or something, no idea) We made good time using the light and candles untill I got here there, I had to wait outside though. The sun went away and all I had was a small candle that was going out. The guide told me if I concentrate on it I could make the light from the candle larger, I did so and it worked, extending the light by about its strength (enough to keep me alive) Anyways after not long the girl came out and we had to get out somehow, for some reason we couldnt go the way we came. We procedded upstairs and came unto a long dark hallway with no light and we had no way to get light. We decided to try to run across it and made to do so. Along the way she tripped and fell (of course...women) and I tried to help but it was to late. The darkness (Oblivion?) started to take her. But then somehow I was able to stop it using something alike the candle trick ealier. The darkness was pushed back though not by a light per say but just the absence of darkness. Anyways we continued on then I woke up.
Anyone wanna take a crack at if it meant anything

I am usually pretty good at psychological dream interpretation, although when it comes to the Occult I suppose psychology falls flat on its face. ;D
I will reread this, and if I do come up with a theory I will post it.

I've had good results (posted on here somewhere) by reading some Lovecraft and taking some opiates right before bed.
