I noticed that while the dream thread offered a place to expose one's dreams, it didn't necessarly encourage people to offer their advice. And in fact, many of the dreams written there either had obvious symbolism which needed no help to interpret, or too obscure one, which one could only understand knowing the person intimately already. Or they were merely interesting by matching this board's theme or pre-existing discussions. I suggest using this thread when you specifically want help in interpreting your dreams, or otherwise think a commentary would be helpful and/or interesting. And of course, you are encouraged to provide others with that help as well, when some special meaning occurs to you while reading their posts.
(Ironically, I am writing this with no particular dream of my own in mind - someone else shall have the honor of providing the first)

Anybody know a good way to force myself into dreaming? It's just something i don't do! Anybody have any tips? I'm at a loss here... I've tried everything i can think of from concentrating on dreaming for a couple hours before going to sleep to drinking a small *cough cough* cup of wine before sleep.... i don't really want to try any kind of dream herbs or anything, but if that is what it takes to dream i suppose i may...

Write down what dreams you remember as quickly as you can after you wake up in a journal. Continue doing this, and your dream recall will grow. It worked for me.

I have a theory that hard physical work or sport/workout, and being around different people helpes one to dream. Also pills/medicine can be a big factor and they can do so one cannot remember ones dreams.
As far as i know we all dream every night, but remembering can be a somewhat of a pickle
Edit: The more input the better, dreaming is just ones brain learning and proccesing information, like traumatic experiences can also provoke strong dreams. The more input the better.

Madguten's probably right, that there are many things that are said to help a person dream- However, I don't know what they are, myself. I'm sure you remember a dream every once in a while, even if it's as ingrequent as once a month. Just, whenever you remember anything, write it down- Even the feelings you have when you wake up. And, while writing them down, maybe scraps of your dream will come to you.

Normally my standard dreams are very boring. I often find myself remembering scraps of dreams that are anything but interesting. For instance, it will typically be something like this: I suddenly remember a flash or fragment (of a dream) that i know cannot be true, something like my television not working or me buying a brand of cigarettes that i dont usually smoke. When i remember these dull fragments i realize that they must be forgotten dreams that i have dreamt and then forgotten. This is when i am home, if no new input comes the dreams are dull and boring.
This is in sharp contrast to the dreams i have when i am on holiday. I travel about once a year with my mother. When traveling i always encounter much stronger dream states, i think this is due to the large amount of information and feelings that the mind is processing. My mother even says that i usually begin to talk in my sleep. This never (ever) happens when i am just here, doing my daily things. When i was in Egypt i couldnt sleep without constantly waking up with the weirdest feelings after dreaming the weirdest things. For example one dream i remember as clear as crystal is this:
I dreamt about dead kittens (no kidding, i really did) being squashes under some big pigs that kept rolling around in them. Most of them were rotten, but some were alive and in the dream my panic was that i could not get the pigs to stop rolling around in the kittens. Later in the dream it was one of my own cats i had to keep away from the kittens. I was exhausted when i woke up in Cairo.
Anyway, this dream was without a doubt provoked by the stress of being in Egypt (i hate not being home, but i also hate the thought of my mom traveling alone) and the fact that i had stepped on a rotten cat carcass in one of the bazars/marketplaces. This had touched my mind, without me even thinking about it till afterworths.
I can still remember the feeling of that dream, even though years have passed.

Hmmn interesting information. I love to travel. Never had the pleasure of leaving the continent though. I've been all over the U.S. and Canada. Maybe a change of scenery. Been thinking about checking out Europe.

The US is so grand that it holds all kinds off landscape. I have always kinda wanted to visit the deserts there, but it is too far, i hate flying long trips. The farthest i've been from Denmark is Egypt, but US is longer cost to cost than from here to Africa. Mostly i visit lands as Poland or such, i really love Norway and Sweden. It bothers me that there are no mountains here. No real forests either, or animals for that sake. At least we still have a couple of foxes, and a few rats.

Well i've lived in Northern Florida my entire life. I live right on the river so there's tons of wildlife here. We actually have problems with the bears, raccoons, and alligators. No mountains or snow all we get are hurricanes and thunderstorms. Most beautiful place in the US i've been to would have to be the Black Hills in South Dakota. Alaska is also nice. I have an uncle in Alaska so i just go and stay with them for a month or so every couple years.

I just found a trick that might help some, by accident yesterday.
The human brain notices decreases in light easier than increases. And a smooth decrease in light is linked with the drive for sleep at an instinctive level. I had a fancy computer mouse for a while, it has coloured LEDs cycling, coloured light fading in and out. Yesterday I didn't turn off the computer, so the cycling lights worked all night long. I turned it so that the light wouldn't disturb my sleep, and just let it be. I noticed, after a while, that though the light reaching through my eyelids was not perceivable, its fading was, and the effect was an impression of constant darkening of the room, without reaching the natural limit of total darkness, a sensation both relaxing and disturbing. Of course, one single try isn't a sound experiment to proove the link of causality, but I did get excellent sleep last night, with enough dreams though they were of the ordinary kind.

What about if you have a dream about Cthulhu like you see him in a dream and instantly recognize him then you see tornadoes grouped together to look like him and one of his creatures come after you because you recognized him and when you said his name out loud his massive head turns and looks at you what does that dream mean?

That means the Cult of Cthulhu is here for you. You'll receive what you will put into it.
