Tonight,I took a sleeping pill and got drunk. What resulted was not sleep ,rather it was a state where I could not feel my body, heart rate and breathing was slowed and I was free to just drift.I attempted to implants a few suggestions and definitely experienced the music I was playing in a different way.
The only time alcohol had opened the subconscious for me was over the summer when for the second day on no other liquid than alcohol,I guzzled half a bottle of Gordon's.Needless to say I had some fruit punch earlier so I puked (when on alcohol, avoid every other liquid possible).
I doubt I can do that again without destroying my esophagus but I do feel I came close with the use of a sleeping pill (supposed to regulate seratonin type pill).Within the next several days I will buy some max strength sleeping pills and gulp a few down with some Caribbean rum.I expect an altered state much like the one I had over the summer where I could literally see, feel and understand how my mind works.
Death could occur and my heart can stop but I hardly care. This body is disposable.I'm close to the one I want anyway LOL
Would like to know if any of you tried it and what you thought of the quality of gnosis resulting from alcohol if any.

I believe when Im sober,I am blind to the truth as I was all last week. But now I see it,its all hopeless, theres nothing out there,or anywhere for that matter.

I take sleeping pills nearly every night, and now and again I mix them with varying amounts of alcohol. I've found that while sometimes unpredictable, the results can sometimes be powerful insofar as mystical work goes. This state has generated for me dreams and visions unlike any other, and allowed me trains of thought I would likely have never otherwise experienced.

Have to agree with you on that one Last time i did it,I was neither asleep nor fully awake. The visions were quite amazing.I couldn't feel my body but I could open my eyes and see my surroundings and my whole being vibrated with whatever I listened to.Mystical indeed

SSRI inhibitors . . . ahhh.
They're tested on mental hospital inpatients and then put straight onto the prescription list.
That makes it kind of hard to predict their synergies or reactions with other drugs.
Personaly, I like a traditional alternative which is wormwood. It's the herb they use to make absinthe.
I found that for the sedative side of things, a good combination was smokable wormwood herb with hash and alcohol.
I don't know how safe it is, but I'm sure people have mixed them for generations, and survived. There's a sedative effect, but it allows sensitivity to music and energy, which makes it interesting to do, even if it's not interesting to watch.
I don't know if it's effects are the same, but it's probably safer and more reliable than SSRI combinations.
There are probably much less withdrawl symptoms as well.

where can i get smokeable wormwood? Wormwood's called TATAN in the ninth Enochian key*, so I guess that makes me a part time tatanist It grows wild in Europe. Herbals tend to call it a poison. It's essence can be extracted in vodka, brandy, etc. but sometimes the safest way to use a narcotic herb is to smoke it slowly. It's legal in the UK, so we can just buy the herb and pick out the stems and woody bits, then it's smokable. It's lacking as a social drug for a night out, because it can lessen ones conscience etc. and no one needs an excess of absinthe stories in their anecdote book. *the Enochian language structure seems to have a proceeding word as an essence that extracts from the next word, so that the keys often say 'of' in the English translation when it goes without saying in the Enochian text. OD TRANAN BAYLE "and the marrow of salt" might mean 'the salt of the earth' reffering to salty stuff which occurs when soil is so good that some of it's nutrients will crystalise on the top if it's dry after heavy rain. Wormwood might be seen as a poison because it make the cattle go crazy, but it's healthy for herbivores to eat mineral salt. It reminds me of Auten Osman Spare saying something along the lines of "I bringeth the sour milk that cureth the body"

Clasm, this sleeping pill you mention, ambien perhaps? No, reviewing your post you mention serotonin regulation, sos the others most bve right and you speak of an SSRI, usually prescribed as an anti-depressent.
Sleeping pill (if its is ambien, not a diasapam) plus alchohol will put me in a gnostic state almost garanteed. beautiful and wierd, down right dissasociative.
Of course theres also absinthe.
The two however do NOT mix well together at all, bad headache, wretched feeling all over. I even gave the combo a second chance (maybe a third, whos counting) and it is whack bro. Two great and dreamy buzzes that taste whack together.

At least here in Wisconsin, wormwood grows it patches all over the place--it is even to be seen in some gardens as it's particular pallid green can offset more vivid plants rather nicely. I am not sure where you are--but if it isn't in the midst of too much cement, I would not be surprised if there is some growing within a days' drive around you.

I choose not to drink or do drugs. They distort things and fog up my thinking. It's not a matter of wrong or right, it's a matter of having a clear head. None of my understandings ever came from the influence of any drug. I've experiance euphoria when I come in contact with great power sources, but it is always with clear thinking. If your influenced by any chemical you can't really trust what you feel or see is real. As a skeptic I illiminante that possibilty. This way I not only validate my experiance but so I remember it with clearness and rationality. I don't condemn anyone for using anything but will warn that much is unhealthy and destructive to the body and mind. I do encourage the limited use of alternating chemical for the fact clarity in mind is far more important then any looseness of emotianal energy. Energy produced through hightend emotion is fairly useless unless the mind can focus well enough to send the energy to the right source. Magic is more about focus and has little to do with emotion. Most mind manipulating drugs will not only disrupt this focus but your health if abused. The focus here is living not running away from pain and inhibitions. It's best to find yourself consumed with directed passion then lost with mind numbing substances that generally are unhealthy. Focus on manisfistation of desire rather then running to the easiest way to rid yourself of your worries. Life is great and should be seen as such. Live long and vibrant! Let nothing get in your way of success in all endevours. If it's magic, enlightening, controlling and hightening energy, or simply relaxing use the most natural ingrediant, your mind. You will be amazed at what you can do without help of an outside agent.

If you do use drugs you have to do a hell of a lot more banishing and magical training like meditation and martial arts etc. to compensate.
This isn't just a modern view. When I look at tribal people who use drugs in their magic, I see incredible levels of skill, focus, and endurance in their lifestyles and rites of passage. Their rituals are more elaborate and focused on themes as well.
And then it raises the question of how much benefits you'd get from the training etc. without the drugs.

Focus and training can never be drug induced. These comes from inside. If these things appear more vibrant in those who use such substances it shows as mearly the absence of coherance to their actions. Drugs and such make you less inhibited but with no real benefit. Energy and manisfistation comes from the inner soul and heart, not from intoxication. Using them makes for a more lively ritual but not more beneficial then one with awareness of direct action. As I said however, I don't condemn their use, I just know no benefit. If it pleases someone, let them slowly destroy thier health, life, and mind. Myself, I choose a more direct path, my inner spirit. I've seen and manifested many wonderful things without the use of anything so why would I promote any one else too. Wouldn't make a lot of sense. Mortals limit their abilities by taking the easy way. Growth can only come by extending outside the comfort of previous and long practiced ways. Don't form your opinon to hastely. Read, study, search, and then come to a conclusion. What you decide, do. Your benefit is only yours to be enjoyed. However, it's not a rule for practice. Just a prefrence.

Drugs within a tribal context.
Well now...those traditions without any entheogenic usage are going to have less interesting inconography. A shaman who consumes a plant of power for visionary purposes will enter a vibrant and primal gnosis--is certain to return with interesting information or some sort. We can predict that this guy with have more colorful dance, mask, story ect--as compared to the guy whose only immersion into gnostic states arises from drumming, dancing and suchlike.
Now I'm not leaping forward and predicting who has better magick, nor who has more focus. Arguements for either case could be raised, and indeed have.
I just don''t feel like speculating is all.
See now, I can go out and consume some stems and some caps of the flesh of the gods
~or~
I could bang on my shield-drum at a steady pace until trance is reached (Of course these are not my only options--I could go and utilise both methods, or niether).
Okay so the mushrooms gave me a more powerful experiencewhereas the drum gave me a more controlled/controllable experience. Ahh, now we are all collectively remembering Zander giving Willow that little lecture about power and control "if you hold the hammer down by the base of the handle you have a more powerful swing, but you might smoosh your thumb. Choke up on the handle and sacrifice a bit of the power in favor of control". Thus did Zander apply carpenter wisdom to the theory and practice of Joss Whedonic thaumaturgy.
Really though, you kids ought not expect your studiy and practice of the Great Work of Magick to be very greatly enhanced by watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Of course some drugs do temporarily enhance ones ability to focus...

Lol ,Buffy the Vampire Slayer.Let us not jump to conclusions, such assumptions aren't good on anyone's behalf. In all seriousness, all drunkeness and the extreme altered states gave me were a glimpse into how a mind with no conscious interference looks, feels and operates.Take into account I relied on gnosis far before alcohol.A glimpse into a quiet mind is an interesting thing.I attribute much of my current stability to it as well.Having been "mellowed out" and feeling no tension in certain situations imprints itself at some point. After a while it took more and more to get buzzed,so the negativity in my mind became associated with alcohol and productiveness with a waking state.Eventually ,problems I had consciousness were attributed to alcohol and the calm became attributed to waking consciousness.I saw its usefulness as a tool as being no different than sigils and mantras. The induced altered states allowed results to come faster. In case you can't figure out what I am talking about,I crossed the wires so to speak.Or attempted to invert my former negative self by building new associations.Recognize my goals and the theories I had attached to them before you condemn me some wanna be punk or some inexperienced shit seeking the easy way out.A little bit of knowledge on psychology goes a good length. Of course like all things, alcohol has no use to me anymore as I achieved what I wanted. Now that I did that much,I am ready to continue this journey with a lot less negativity than I began with.

93/23 SSRI's suck...MAOI's really suck because of the dietary restrictions that have to be followed. If you really want to get OUT THERE I would say some good E and Acid done together will definitely do the trick! 93 93/93

Fuck that! I heard it tasted pretty good! lol! Actually, as far as cannibalism is concerned, I would prefer not to eat brains. The thought of crunching into a juicy aneurysm, or mass of tumours just turns me off of it. I would prefer a nice Bicep, Pectoral, or Calves and Thighs. Now if we are talking about chicks...it could get interesting. I think body-builders would make good eating indeed (as long as they are naturally enhanced, no steroids ) As for drinking, I am trying to cut down. I have a tendency to over-drink especially when extremely depressed. The last time I got plastered I blacked out for the second time in my life. I don't really like that; if I'm gonna do myself in, I prefer to know I'm doing it, ya know? "...so the things just move through, I feel ya pain I got things to soothe you..." -Weezy F. Baby

yeah for you guys smoking wormwood.....my experience is that wormwood/thujone is best consumed by drinking with high potency alcohol. smoking wormwood is rumored to do really bad things to your lungs. as a long time occasional wormwood user id have to say that this seems true. also when you mix it with alcohol you get a much different and better reaction/effect than just the sum of the parts. thujone and alpha-thujone are GABBA-1 and GABBA-2 receptor antagonists. so is alcohol, in the opposite way. the reaction is kind of a speedball effect on the CNS. way more stimulant as well as visual than wormwood smoked. also the synergy is great with other mentioned herbals. halfway decent absinthe can be obtained without illegality of distillation of drinking spirits by buying a non-alcoholic "flavoring essense" from Gert Strand AB which is i believe located in switzerland. add it to everclear. higher allkaloid content than european absinthe regulations permit. they will ship to US. as long as you dont sell it or serve it for money i dont think this is illegal in the us as wormwood is only banned as a food additive under fda regulations. not actually scheduled as a controlled/excised substance. if your an alchey like me then dont drink this stuff all the time. just use it occasionally to add into your regimine. its not very good for you either. fuck pharmaceutical drugs.
also to dragonlady et all.........preach your tea-totaling patronization to someone else. ive been doing magick for 11 years. intoxicants and the poison path are like the handguns of enlightenment (phil hine anyone?) much can be accomplished either for better or worse. what doesent kill you makes you stronger. you seem to have this drugs are a crutch mentality just because you havent done any or more likely lack the spiritual methodology or technology of neuro-linguistic programmibility to understand how to use these substances as tools. don't make the mistake of looking at a plumber with a much larger toolbox and the skills to use it as if he were damaged or crippled. such a view betrays the weakness inherent in your own self esteem or the limitations you self imposed from fear or lack of vision. stupid master plumber, always making hurricanes out of butterfly wings while i work on this love/promotion at work spell"

YAY! Drug topic!
Well Since I know a lot in the field of that particular medicine both philosophically and scientifically!
I will just stay on topic. Alcohol is a wonderful drug that enables you to enter the hypnagogic state whilst in a sedated/conscious state, it also gives properties of anaesthetic.
When your brain is waxed from the alcohol, thinking can be either philosophical or disastrous to the point of a zoo. Doses are predictable and users are unpredictable.
Fun choice if you like to get deep into conversations with people that you know or like. (like a party or gathering of just only people you are comfortable with) this makes Waxing(drinking) more fun because during these in depth conversations, there is no conflict of opinion, if so it is passive conflict, You may find yourself and others agreeing to the same thing simetaneously even if you disagree!
You are always on the same level with everyone (not consumption wise)
I think that is why it has been nicknamed the social lubricant.
