Ask yourself the following questions, and answer here if you can.
What does the path of the Black Magician take from you who walk it?
Which parts of your former self have you sacrificed in order to gain dark knowledge?
What are the differences between this and the other possible paths or approaches to Magic?
What do you suppose you have gained by choosing this particular way over others? Why not be a do-goody New Age hippie full of Love an Light?
Any regrets? ;D
I am VERY interested in hearing what you say. I'm aware that Magic doesn't really come with a color or lack of it attached, but we're speaking about concepts and definitions of certain approaches here so I might as well call it "black". Or maybe it is really [black]BLACK[/black] - who knows.

It has taken form me ,innocence ,naivete and the eagerness that came with being a neophyte or a noob at magick. As for sacrifice...hmmm, I did sacrifice my sense of well being and security I guess.Such is the case when weird entities watch you and your aware of it.Even more the case when they test drive your body. The difference? This emphasizes real world results whereas other paths emphasize some personality change or spiritual pipe dream such as heaven or nirvana (all bullshit). If i do a and b then c happens every time. This is our path. Whereas the other path is if I do a and b then z may happen despite being both improbable and impossible.Their path is lies. All the do-goody New Age hippies I met have more problems than I,hence why I never follow them or anyone for that matter No regrets

The dark arts have opened my mind , but now I have lost the sort of child like view of flowers and fairies that most of those hippy light magic folks still have. This is sort of good because they are unrealistic, and when something happens to them they fall and cry. I smite my enemy ,will situations in my favor , and gain new prospective .
hail to the dark path

Well, I've sacrificed a lot of time, study and practice into the occult...
The parts of my former self I had to sacrifice? Ummm... old paradigms and ways of thinking. Not so much of a sacrifice as much as a road to self improvement, since a lot of these old ways were a lot more self destructive.
The reason I like Sorcery? No religious obligations (not in the christian sense at least), no restrictions, and Sorcery is results oriented.
Why not be a do-goody New Age Hippie full of Love and Light? Well because they don't embrace the "harsher" side of nature. Truth, I believe, if it can be called such a thing, is more of a fluid concept that is beyond the ideas of "good and evil".
I've studied sorcery for about 8 years and fortunately it's for the better.
Studying sorcery hasn't driven me mad (yet) though it has given me new philosophical ideas to ponder on, it hasn't made me "darker" but actually made me a hell of a lot more optimistic. Spirituality and art are both very important to me, and studying sorcery has allowed me to connect and experiment with both. I would also say that I've made better descisions thanks to my studying of sorcery.
So my answer, in general, is that I study Sorcery because it is an excellent metaphysical tool for improving one's life, attaining goals, and gaining wisdom and power.

It has made me feel stronger and it helps me balance out my life and the people in it. The only thing I sacrificed for it was cowardice, not wisdom. Funny how two things are often mixed up. BTW, things like fairies are just elementals. One example is a dragon. It is the strongest elemental of fire, earth, water, and wind. If the Sorcerer has enough strength, then he could forge one to help him. It would remain unseen to anyone who has not entered realms where they could see them. I mostly use Chaos-Magick. A mixture of both. There was this one chaos curse that I wrote that drove my enemy insane and always kept their anger out of control. It was hilarious to see them in such agony after what they did to me. The prick took my girlfriend, by saying I was cheating on her. If I really was or not, is my little secret.

What does the path of the Black Magician take from you who walk it? It took nothing but that that was not mine anyway. It gave me purpose.
Which parts of your former self have you sacrificed in order to gain dark knowledge? Only those things that were not mine to begin with. The trick is in discovering what's yours and what's not.
What are the differences between this and the other possible paths or approaches to Magic? I believe that the LHP or the path of the Black magican is the path to true self. It is difficult to determine true paths to wisdom and ones that cater to the ego in the guise of bringing wisdom. True wisdom is acquired through experience, suffering and pain.
What do you suppose you have gained by choosing this particular way over others? I am Awake and others still sleep.
Why not be a do-goody New Age hippie full of Love an Light? Love is in everything, but love cannot teach everything. It is though suffering that we truly grow and can accept love. To just love everything blindly is to accept everything. I do not accept everything. I am shaping my world, my becoming...my destiny. This is my universe and it would be really boooooring if everyone just loved everybody else and all got along.
There would be no friction and without friction there is no heat...without heat there is no fire and without fire there is no trans formative quality and we stagnate and become like the rune Isa.
Any regrets? I want my flesh sac to live a bit longer so I can complete more before I have to "jump" bodies again.

I have been a practicing black magic for 6 years now. Not that fluffy ritual stuff either, the roots baby! It has taken nothing from me, although I occasionally suffer bouts of anxiety and depression, I am still me. The only difference has perhaps been self-empowerment.

As with all magic, it's a discipline.
You must be the master of your craft and never fall under the dillusion that you're controlled by it.
I've merely refined that natural, intrinsic force called magic.

Since it is told that Atlantis fell because of irresponsible/immature use of Black Magic, I'd guess it also takes some RESPONSIBILITY. Even here on our forum we have examples of how not to do it...

I'm not a strict LHP magician, or black magician. I've always used the Shadow Magic, or path of both roads.
But; even then it's taken 5 years of my life, 2 weeks of no memory, 2 days of a coma, and more I can't relate.
And no, I wasn't weak. The gods are fickle is all I'll say on the matter.

Black magick takes a lot of Balls!
And if you don't have the equipment you can't use Black magick.
No offence to female mages.
