I wasn't sure if a similar thread existed already, or if it would rather belong in the philosophy or dream section, but here goes anyway!
How do you imagine hell?
I don't mean it's necessary to believe in it. Personnally, I don't believe in an afterlife at all, but I still have a conception of hell, I see something specific when picturing what this word means.
So, what does it means for you all? I'm curious about your views.

My idea of hell:
I see it as a polymorphous universe - or perception - appearing differently depending of the mind viewing it.
It may be a Pagan underworld, where the dead feast and rejoice. It may be a peaceful individual haven. It may also be, if one's mind is full of guilt and seeking punishment, the fires that torment eternally. Those expecting evil will see and participate in actions that they see as most perverted - perhaps enjoying them. And the mystically minded will find a world of mysteries.
It may be shaped to an extent by the majority, by the influence of thousands, or it may not.
I recall several dreams that were set in a place I identified as hell. It was different every time, and always a little creepy, but each time there came a warning that one could understand to stay out of trouble:
"I will rule you by making you similar to me."
"Only those who are not honest with themselves will be hunted."
"Certain things will steal your sight if you lend it to them." (I failed to avoid the traps in that particular dream - it required not to read the writings covering the walls)
"The fire that burns is the fire that forges. There is no shape without fire."
Some others would be hard to understand without the whole context.
