First of all I wish to stress that when I use caps, its for a reason and I am not shouting. In this exercise, it is my intention to play Devil's advocate and ask some tough questions. It is not intended to outrage but to enlighten (endarken?)
The Satanic Code
1. Satanists take an active role.
IN WHAT EXACTLY....ASIDE FROM THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS?
They live by their own set of rules, trying to get the most out of life. Satanism is an aggressive religion and Satanists focus on obtaining their desires.
2. Satanism is open-minded.
TOWARDS WHAT? SURELY ITS NOT OPEN-MINDED TOWARDS WHITE LIGHT RELIGIONS THAT WOULD CRUSH US OUT OF EXISTENCE IF GIVEN A CHANCE.
While skeptical, the Satanist knows that he doesn't have all the answers; there are many things unknown to him.
IF WE ARE GODS, HOW CAN THIS STATEMENT BE TRUE?
The world doesn't make sense.
BY WHO'S STANDARDS? MY WORLD MAKES PERFECT SENSE TO ME.
It's only through individual realities that the Satanist can understand the world and his place within it.
WHO'S REALITIES MUST I ACCEPT IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND MY WORLD?
3. Satanism is closely tied to the ego. This character (or perhaps character flaw) defines Satanism. Individualism is a strength, but it has limitations.
I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE ON THIS STATEMENT. IT MAY BE TRUE THAT I DON'T REQUIRE ACCEPTANCE OF OR BY OTHERS, BUT I AM A SOCIAL ANIMAL AND BEING "ALONE" IN MY AREA (WORLD?) IS AT THE LEAST FRUSTRATING.
The Satanist's Will flows from the ego. He recognizes that part of the universe revolves around him; however, the Satanist should remember that it is only a small part. Yes, there is a greater power outside!
WHY DOES THERE HAVE TO BE SOMETHING GREATER THAN I OUTSIDE? ACCORDING TO LAVEY, "ALL religions of a spiritual nature are inventions of man. He has created an entire system of gods with nothing more than his carnal brain. Just because he has an ego, and cannot accept it, he has to externalize it into some great spiritual device which he calls "God"."IS THIS STATEMENT NO LONGER VALID?

1-2good points
3-What greater power, what can be greater than I?
They need to rewrite the code to be more blunt and strightforward

wow, i almost missed this new thread. thanks for starting it, Rev.
if you see all things has having three possible "natures" or basic tendencies, then everything would be classified as either passive, neutral, or active. yes, active is general. and active in what? ok, let's define it...
1. engaged in action; characterized by energetic work, participation, etc.; busy: an active life.
2. being in a state of existence, progress, or motion
3. causing activity or change; capable of exerting influence
open-minded in the way that every detail can be critically analyzed; not taken for granted, not assumed. that doesn't mean a Satanist (or anyone) should discount ideas because they came from a certain source or because they might oppose one's current views. if that were the case, then we'd still believe the earth was flat and the sun revolved around us.
so, no. open-minded does not mean giving our known enemies a fair shake. however if someone not-like-us is saying something we haven't considered, then i think it behooves us to at least contemplate.
we are gods in training, gods in exile, prisoner gods... whatever way makes sense to you. on this planet, wearing this flesh, humans are bound by certain laws. we are not all-divine, a lot of our genetic make-up is quite animal. we are the hybrid children of both the A:O and the universe (in accord with the Lesser Gods).
if a Satanist knows all the answers, then why isn't he running the world?
if you understand that this world is flawed and actively working against us in order to feed upon our suffering... then yes you know what kind of horrible sense this world makes. and that makes you one of the very few.
first, you must understand your own subjective reality. know that your personal paradigm is different than mine just as it's different than your mailman. each of us has our own "version" or reality. so, now we must understand the reality of those around us in order to better interact and communicate with them.
yes, all religions (including the Cult of Cthulhu) are man-made inventions. and why have they been invented? because they are useful tools... invaluable to creating something, getting somewhere!
which brings us to how. how could man, with merely a carnal brain like all the other animals on earth, invent a system of gods to acknowledge and worship? by the laws of science and nature, man should not be able to do these things with his carnal brain, but he does. his brain is different. we don't have proof as to why, but it seems likely to some that man was "influenced" by a higher power or divine force. so, yeah we may be inventing Satan, God, Cthulhu, etc. but they do stand for something... they do represent a substantive, transcendental principle.

Also technically would it be fair to say that gods are symbols of the gods?Kind of reminds me of a fractal to some degree or some of the theories included in Post Modernism.

yeah, that's a good way of putting it. the gods we use are symbols for certain entities in the core structure... patterns in the foundation.
