I have found that it's very difficult to find someone that is an artist and a philosopher at the same time. Artists in general don't have the ability to think analytically with the quality needed in philosophy, nor are philosophers able to draw or write poetry with great quality neither.
Doing both things right is almost a miracle, it seems Darrick was blessed with both capabilities. An unusual combination only found in eccentric people like A Crowley, F Nietzsche, Da Vinci and Adolph Hitler.

Hey, could you elaborate? I always thought that there was a much greater proportion of philosophers amongst artists than the overall population, and vice versa, and the artists who are uninterrested in philosophy and other intellectual work generally produce shallow and meaningless work. I mean, art is a mean of communicating what simple words can't, and to do it right you have to have something to say... I'm curious about what types of artists you've been in contact with to reach that conclusion. In what fields?

I am an artist, musician, as wel as a philosopher of sorts. i would like for my work to be credited amongst them anyway. I have to agree with youma on this one. -M.

I'm an artist and philosopher, and I have a background in music as far as my father was in a rock band ( local band, wasn't famous 'cause I came along and ruined any chance of touring ) and I LOOOOVVEEE to sing and listen to music. I understand what you mean though, how philosophers are thought to be more logical and realists while artists are thought to be more abstract and "thinking outside the box". It is possible to be all these at once, if you don't mind being a little crazy as well.

Artists in general don't have the ability to think analytically with the quality needed in philosophy, nor are philosophers able to draw or write poetry with great quality neither. I tend to write, paint, draw and could probably compose pretty decent music if I could find the right software.Anyhow that said I consider myself philsophical as well in a self convenient type of way. I do disagree, most artists can and do think analytically. They simply choose to express it on a canvas.I suppose it is possible you dont know very many artists personally,do you? Many artist have some very deep and well thought views of the world, they tend to generally seem too introverted to come flat out and converse though.
