Well there has been talk about the people who are not seriously in the Cult of Cthulhu . Have you ever thought that these people true followers, or not can be of use . The CoC can be feed much like a sigil through the attention of others . So letting these people feed the god forms, and mythos will only add power to us as a whole . I advise posting rites on youtube.com ... Maby starting a web cam Grotto to put more energy from wide spread in to the CoC .
Thats just an idea

i agree that even people on the very periphery of the Cult serve a purpose. that's why we have the Messenger of the Outer Angles degree... the base of the pyramid.
and a youtube ritual, discussion, or visual presentation would be cool. we have a couple already and i've got another phone interview that's going to be unleashed very soon.
simply spreading awareness of our organization helps to solidify our power.
yes, Wave of Will's Ritual to the Old Ones is definitely a peacock feather in our cap, but more can be done. those who are truly serious about seeing the Cult of Cthulhu grow must do what they can... even if that is individual indulgence because it is all interconnected.
post further ideas right here in this thread.

I've been doing my best to spread the name of the Cult of Cthulhu. All my friends should pretty much be aware of this organization by now.
Using the social networking sites to spread the name of the Cult is effective. Perhaps joining a LHP or Occult search site would be helpful? I know there are a few out there.
I was also thinking about the possibility altering the Wikipedia article, Cult of Cthulhu to make some mention of this organization.
Besides that one could print out and leave pamphlets in the occult or new age section of the local bookstore...

I am still working on an article along these lines documenting the process of forming and founding a Cult of Cthulhu Grotto in Austin, TX. Here are some of the high-points...
- As individuals, take pride in your membership and participation in the Cult of Cthulhu. When you are out-and-about, on the internet of in the "real" world, tell people about what you see here and what is being done. You can even complain about that dork, Ego Diabolus, and his long-winded responses to nearly everything posted. Just telling some people that we exist is often enough to get their interest.
-Be inspired by the Cult of Cthulhu and create something. I know, not everyone here is an artist, musician, or writer, but that does not mean you don't have the means to create something. Ask yourself why you are interested in the Cult of Cthulhu and then find a way to contribute to fulfilling that cause. For example, if you find the idea of the Ancient Ones fascinating, why not try to create a catalog of them from the writing of others? You might even find several websites that have done this already that may be of interest to the Cult of Cthulhu.
-Making use of social-networking sites is a great idea. If you see something from a Cult of Cthulhu member that you just think rocks, be it a submitted video on YouTube or a response in this forum, post a link to it in your social-forum-of-choice. Get people checking us out.
-Fliers, business cards, and merchandise are all something I am working on for my own, local efforts. The tactical placement of fliers and other materials at coffee-houses, college campuses, book-stores, or other favored haunts of our demographic can go a long way.
-Along with the underground media-campaign I am engaging in will be an effort to increase our over-all internet foot-print. Use web-sites that have social-group pages (such as Yahoo!) to create your own Cult of Cthulhu group for your own specialized interest or geographic area. Set up a Meetup account. Create a dedicated user-account strictly for you as a Cult of Cthulhu member. Update these frequently with the things you find here that interest you, and link back to this forum. Blog about the Cult of Cthulhu and your own ideas (sometimes a post I place here is also posted on half-a-dozen other sites).
-Become gregarious, at least outwardly. This is my biggest stumbling block, I am a true misanthrope. But, as I have always told folks who bemoaned the lack of anything to do in my home town, if they cannot find a good party then they should throw one themselves. Even if you are not a Wizard of the Terrible Darkness yet, this does not prevent you from meeting with like-minded people and sharing your interest in the Cult of Cthulhu. Show up at other meetings related to the Cult of Cthulhu; local Satanist, witchcraft, and pagan meetings and events.
Now, I just want to wrap this up with one, final idea. Ask yourself why you wish to promote the Cult of Cthulhu. It might seem like a weird question, but I am proud that this is one of the few occult organizations that sees membership growth as a secondary goal, a subsequent event resulting from our primary goals. As we evolve, both individually and as an organization, the awareness of our efforts and the interest that it generates comes naturally. Our first priority is our individual evolution, but we recognize that in order to evolve into true awareness we must garner the support of others who share in the idea of the evolution of self and the pro-active development of reality. It is to that end that we should wish to increase the roster of the Cult of Cthulhu; the evolution of self through mutual support of one another.
That, and we are all pretty cool to hang-out with.
But, never just for the sake of roster-filling. This is not about numbers. Let lesser organizations play that game. Better a dozen hardened, intellectual, active, and creative Cultists that a hundred myopic and apathetic seat-fillers.

Your idea of finding other websites with info about Cthulhu is right up my alley of interest. I am a total research junkie, so to speak. I am also in the process of building up an occult library of sorts by printing out and putting into protective binders various left hand path ebooks that I have collected over the past few months. It is a slow process but anything worthwhile usually takes time and dedication. I also pass out flyers promoting CoC, but actually talking to people is somewhat of a problem since I live with a total inbred jerk who is against any kind of religious beliefs. But I do the best that I can. CoC rules my world!! Awake!

Those are indeed some excellent ideas. Even though I recently started a new job that seems to be taking up most of the free time I once had, I will do my best to promote the Cult of Cthulhu in anyway I possibly can. I am proud to be a member and I even plan to commemorate my involvement and membership with the Cult with a tattoo. Awake!
