I'm fairly sure I've posted this before. It's an elegant demo that demonstrates how new impressions simply... well, you'll understand ...

I did notice the flowers, but couldn't pinpoint why I noticed them.

Padowan: Somehow that doesn't surprise me. I'm fairly certain I know why you noticed the flowers. Read my latest post in the phantom limb thread and see if you can figure it out. Or just ask and I'll tell you. HINT: The answer does involve priming.

The answer is: you have an interest in plants and that causes it to be primed, and what's primed is more salient.

I only noticed the bear replaced by the armor, and the clock on the carpet. What does it means ? Time is running out ?

@yrreight: Being perceptually primed doesn't mean anything other than a person has a schema more or less constantly primed, and this causes things related to the schema more likely to catch your attention than other unrelated things. I don't know why you would notice a bear/armor or a clock on the carpet. I'd have to know more about you. On the other hand, Kimberly grows plants. She likes nature photography which often includes pictures of flowers. I wasn't making a guess when I said she liked plants -- Kim and I are good friends. Like, she's my bff and suchlike.
