Fasting: it's what's for dinner!
Do it now. Don't overdo it starving yourself for days, but generally eat less. When you do partake of food and drink (FYI, have as much water as you wish) make it healthy... try one of the Emerald Nine. Go hungry for a couple hours each day. Observe the results.
Can anyone tell me why fasting might be a multi-benefit goal?

Fasting

I have fasted for four days, a week, and ten days. Literally only water and a little bit of diet soda, mainly for the caffeine. As long as you keep it under 20-25 days, you're in no real danger, other than the danger of struggling against a low energy level and having your assumptions blown.
First and foremost, it is a terrible method of weight loss. Don't do it for that reason. Often it merely decreases your metabolism so you're not actually burning calories (and you get very sluggish). If you want to lose weight while not eating, make sure you do light exercise to keep your metabolism up. Of course...strange things happen when you push your energy levels to zero...like sudden vision loss... Anyway,
Obviously it's a huge willpower thing. It's amazing when you realize that this pain you feel does not have to determine your actions. It even diminishes, the more you ignore it.
It gives you perspective on what a lot of people have to live as a daily existence, NOT for fun.
The most powerful and unexpected effect was that it broke my routines. I had to redesign my daily life. Usually I had three meals a day. Suddenly, during those mealtimes, I had nothing to do. SHOCK.
Another fun aspect was the massive difference I felt between myself and others. I was outside the community of natural humans, existing not by material sustenance but by will alone. I would sit in my college cafeteria doing homework, happily reflecting on how separate the fasting made me.
It teaches you Nietzsche's wisdom -- when you most cry out for lightness, what you really need is more weight. When your impulsivity temps you to eat snack food, you instead have to channel that energy into something constructive (or at least, something else).

The kind of fasting you're talking about (not eating much of anything) is not good for weight loss. I agree with you there. If you're going to keep it up for any length of time beyond 24 hours, then have some nutritious snacks periodically.
BTW, I just had some research sent to me about slowed metabolism caused by calorie reduction or eating below your maintenance (you're burning more calories than you're taking in). A weekly cheat day will bounce your metabolism back so schedule that large pizza and mountain dew... enjoy yourself before you're back to almonds, eggs, chicken breast, tuna, protein drinks, etc.
Yes, don't stop exercising!
Indeed.
Hells yes! Also, thanks for contributing to this thread.

I'm glad this was brought up again Master Satanis. This week was a bit hectic & was feeling a tad out of touch, I'm gonna have another go at it since it's been awhile. Fasting & exercise are the quickest way to observe the results & you can take it to what ever level you desire & stop when you want.

When you feel like just another "mechanical Joe" feeding the Lessor God machine, fasting does cut you out of the picture real quick.

I generally fins eating unpleasant actually, not outright psychologically revolting like an anorexic might, but not particularly fun, maybe even a tad demeaning. It's rather like breathing in that it only really phases me if I pay attention to that I'm doing it. I really only eat when I'm quite hungry or when something really looks tasty, so generally if I fast it's because only disgusting foods are available. I do like to fast every now and then just to ensure I stay slim. I'm a fan of walking, swimming, yoga and fencing; But being primarily a student, part time employee and an indoors person I don't get to those activities as often as I might like, plus other than swimming none of those really seem to keep me very well in shape. I enjoy the mental challenge of not eating though, it's really quite fun balancing the intellect against the primal drive. I see where you'd draw some Nietzsche from the activity.

There's other forms of fasting too, I think if you have a bad habit or something you really do in excess, it's good to do less of that and more of something else that way you have more control over your ego. Correct me if I'm wrong please!

I've actually had a fantastic month because of fasting. I maintained a constant state of mild hunger the whole month & it has really kept me on my toes. Instead of ramming that carna asada burrito down my throat, I'll just wait & buy some fruit on my way out of work. It keeps me in a constant state of "negotiation" with my body as if it was a pet lol. I love the sensation! Keep it up everyone!

I fast for serious trance rituals, its usually a 7 day fast and drinking only water - its a more extreme case, and only when I'm feeling like a good possession ritual is in order. Aside that, I'm not obsessed with food. I eat when I'm hungry, and manage my diet accordingly.
I can say, that after about the 3rd day - you can almost convince yourself you don't need food. It's a weird sort of psychology going on. Once your body adapts to water with lemon (which is what I use), you can almost feel it burning energy stored in your body fat. You don't get hunger pains, you don't think about eating. You wake up each day with a weird energy boost, but you crash pretty early at night. I make my bedtime between 930-10pm during a fast.

@cs Every few months I go on a mini crash diet, so I semi understand what you mean about that energy boost and I have been experimenting with the effects of energy levels via oversleeping, over eating etc and am eager to start fasting as a default by product with it.

I think the time-change plays a role too. I'm all kinds of tired during the Spring Forward, and I feel back to normal when we Fall Back. The first day, I woke up before my alarm clock, I felt well rested, and completely energetic during the day.
Presently, I eat a protein bar for breakfast, one for lunch and cook a well-balanced dinner. I drink water in between. That's pretty much my regular diet. I eat less on the weekends, but I splurge on Fridays and get some sort of take out food. Mostly so I don't have to cook. I hate cooking on the weekends.
Losing weight was just a bi-product really. The way I feel, is soooo much better than when I was eating (3) well-rounded meals a day, with little snacks in between (as per the advice of my nutritionist...psh).

Common, no takers? One day only, not to hard. I'm gonna try for three since I got the time. I'm jealous though since I just met a guy who did a Nine days fast while he was in prison. Then again he was in prison, so that's different:)

Then again he was in prison, so that's different:) Awake! I'm fasting every single day, brother... but only about 16 or 17 hours at a time. Three days of not eating is when your metabolism slows down and your body goes into a catabolic state - which is bad for muscle.
Since you are fasting, there should be plenty of time to post about some aspect of the Great Work here on our forum or the CoC social network. Am I right?

am I too late to accept the challenge?
I have found that when I fast, I am much better at my magick and good things start happening to me. Sort of like when a wolf is hungry, he is the best hunter bc the hunger makes him focused.
I almost feel that food is an addiction, and that I don't need it.

Fasting can be helpful for the weight loss but too much fasting can be harmful for the health and can lead to weaknees. I think the best way for the weight loss is to adopt a some weight loss diet plan and do regualr exercise along with the diet plan.
