For me, it's probably They Live.
What's your favorite B-Movie?

Critters probably. The trailer for "Corpse Grinders" has a special place in my black eldritch heart though.

Evil dead II is a must, & Critters is still legendary with the 80's hair band, bounty hunters & Billy Zane?; but maybe "Metal Storm the legend of Jareth" (because it was in 3D) or something a little less dramatic like "Ice Pirates" or "Space Hunters" with Molly Ringwald.

The 1968 Dennis Wheatley Satanic film, based on his novel, " The Devil Rides Out" is good. It stars Christopher Lee, and uses old fashioned effects. The Satanist group are quite scary, as well as the centrepiece of the manifestation of the Goat of Mendes.
Also the filmed TV series from 1980, 'Hammer House of Horror' featured the episode, 'Guardian of the Abyss' which recreated a Satanic coven. The supposed Devil was Choronzon.
All of Dennis Wheatley's novels are readable, in that occult genre.

I would consider Blood Sabbath to be one of my favourite B-movies filmed in 1972, Dir. Brianne Murphey. It's your basic 70's cult psychedelic cinema faustian love story.

It's been a few years since I've seen The Devil Rides Out, but I remember it fondly. What about The Skull or Horror Express?
Don't think I've ever seen the Hammer House of Horror series, but you've definitely piqued my interest. Thanks for the tip!
FYI, Blood Sabbath (which I've never heard of before today), has one review on amazon - and a 3 star review at that! So, if you love it, then represent. And don't be shy about reviewing Cthulhu Cult on amazon either.
And yes, Evil Dead probably takes the cake. Who doesn't love Evil Dead?
Has anyone ever seen Satan's Blood? I just watched this for the second time (screened it as a double feature paired with Bloodsucking Freaks) a month ago. Satan's Blood is an interesting foreign 70's occult film. Bloodsucking Freaks is the kind of Troma trash that only a sick degenerate would love.

I'm ordering Hammer House of Horror right now. It will probably take me some time to watch all of it. I'll post my thoughts once I do.
Also, does anyone have an opinion on the Wishmaster series? I just watched the first one. Seems like a "B" version of Hellraiser, but still decent enough to see Wishmaster 2 - especially since the DVD I have contains both.

I spit on your grave, hands-down.
Not too bad for a 78 film.

I've not seen the re-make yet.
I've read that the re-make surpasses the original. I don't know if that's true, but I've seen a number of remakes that surpass the original (such as Romero's Dawn of the Dead).
I think for me, its the 'What if' scenario. If I were tormented and raped in such a manner, I could think of nothing else but revenge. Would I leave it to the Judicial System? I can tell you first-hand, there is no justice for an in-justice to be administered Judicially I would accept.

Uploaded with ImageShack.usThe original I Spit on Your Grave is fantastic. For the exploitation genre, it's the best of the best. The remake, in my opinion, falls very short. Yes, it's brutal, but lacks the poignancy and bitter sweet sensibility of this beloved 1978 classic.
I also prefer the original Dawn of the Dead, so be aware of my bias. One of my biggest gripes with modern movies is the lack of pacing. Everyone can't wait to get to the good stuff, but it's the buildup which is just as important as climax. Slow it down!

I feel ya, I usually feel the same way about originals vs. remakes but in this case, for me, I think the characters were far more dynamic and it had the right amount of chaotic action.
Speaking of the action, I think it grabs you with a more realistic approach. It would really happen that fast, I especially liked the bus scene on the highway. There's the classic slow moving zombie, which is why the pace is so slow but in the era of the fast-runners - it would be that insane I think.
You wake up to find the entire 'reality' as you know it has changed and for the worse. Not only are the dead walking around, they want to eat you, and horrifically.
I also liked how characters from the old, were incorporated into the new.
WHEN THERE IS NO MORE ROOM IN HELL, THE DEAD WILL WALK THE EARTH.
ftw!
OLD
NEW
I was deeply disappointed with other Dead remakes. I wouldn't buy that shit. And I'm an avid collector of horror films.

I almost forgot about this until today. I saw this for the first them when I was about 9, and loved it. Started my interest in Brook Shields too (which died a slow death after Blue Lagoon, and a few other films).

Army of Darkness (all 3, yeah!) of course is one of the best, but more more recent favorites would have to be Dagon (2001) and The House of the Devil (2009). The first for fairly obvious reasons, and the second just because it's one of the few modern movies that actually uses old school pacing. Highly recommended!
(Sorry, I couldn't find a good quality trailer without an ad...)

Hands down, no question, my favorite movie of any grade is SATAN'S BLOOD.
You can get this thru netflix. From the 1970s, Spanish, I think, dubbed in English. I cannot vouch for the authenticity of the practices shown in the movie, but it is definitely said Satan to me. And, unlike other dark side movies from that era, this one does not have some bullshit xian affirming ending. Even the ending is Satanic.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
