The Emerald Nine - Weight Training
- Squats
- Leg Press
- Deadlifts
- Bench Press
- Overhead Press
- Bent Over Rows
- Pull-Ups
- Curls
- Crunches
A variation on Arnold Schwarzenegger's Golden Six. Focus on the above basic movements, and you'll have a great foundation in no time. Definitely no more than 3 times a week so you don't find yourself in a state of over-training.
As you can see, I created a new board on the forum just for physical fitness. Hopefully, it will be well received.
Just as the Cthulhu Cult allowed itself to be heavily influenced by The Teaching of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky, the next phase of our paradigm will place increasing importance on getting into decent physical shape. After all, how can you master your self if your machine is in desperate need of a beneficial workout and diet regimen?
Working on your physique isn't something that average LHP groups focus on, but then this isn't an average LHP group, is it? In my opinion, we cannot struggle to improve only one or two of our main three centers. Each and every Cultist should be mindful of the intellectual, emotional, and physical sections which comprise his self. Each can be improved, concentrating on whatever is needed to meet individual goals.

Im very glad that you continue to branch from the normal LHP standards. Excellent as always. I have started lifting and trying to get "back" into shape. I never got fat but I lost my abs and muscle tone after High School.

These days, I'm of the opinion that if you're not making progress then you're falling behind. Glad to see an effort is being made!
By the way, if anyone wants explanations or alternatives or just a bit more guidance as to how best to implement The Emerald Nine into your training, then please post questions.
I think the E:9 will do great things for the Cult.

Love the list.
Though it can't be said enough, RUN! JOG! WALK! Do something of that nature. It will help alot.
Any alternatives for Benchpress, Overhead, Leg press?
I am out in the sticks and can't really afford weights or a membership. The rest I can do with stones or cut up a tree to work with.
Thanks for the wonderful E:9 Lord Satanis!

I'm slowly getting there. I've never been in good shape, but through the "blessings" of my physical job, I'm not that bad off strength wise. I have weights & have been wanting to use them, but I'm not sure how to gauge a starting weight as I can't afford to screw my muscles up going to heavy as I need them for work. Do you have any advice, Master Satanis?

Yes, cardio is an important element to fat reduction.
Without a gym, I would suggest pushups instead of Benchpress. Some type of dumbbell, barbell, or kettlebell for Overhead or Military Press, and walking lunges, jump rope, or stairs instead of Leg press. Although, some type of gym/facility should be your goal, even if it's just a friend's basement housing a bench, some weights, or a bowflex machine.
Start with a repetition range of 10 - 12, then after a couple weeks you can go a bit heavier, say a rep range of 5 - 7. That means your last full repetition that you can perform (with good form) before reaching total muscle failure should fall within those numbers.
Start with 2 or 3 sets per movement for the first couple months, then you can try 4+ sets, drop sets, supersets, and extremely high or low rep ranges in order to shock the muscle into an Awakened state.

The Emerald Nine - Foods
- Chicken Breast
- Eggs
- Seafood such as fish, shrimp, etc.
- Steak, beef, sausage, ham, turkey, etc.
- Low fat Dairy such as cottage cheese and milk along with yogurt and Greek yogurt (active cultures).
- Nuts such as organic/natural peanut butter, almonds, walnuts, etc.
- Fruits such as banana, apple, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, etc.
- Vegetables
- Protein Powder
Try to eat some of these every single day and include each and every one of the E:9 at some point during your week.
It's easy to go crazy with carbs which is why I didn't bother to mention things like bread, potatoes, oats, pasta, rice, fruit juice, and similar high carb foods. I assume that your diet will also include some of these without even trying. What is difficult to increase is protein. Body builders and strength trainers always need extra protein. Some of the foods on the list are a good source of healthy fats as well; olive oil wasn't mentioned... but now it has been.
In my estimation, getting into shape is a matter of 35% weight training, 20% cardiovascular exercise, and 45% diet.

Venger As'Nas Satanis Cult of Cthulhu High Priest I like this list though as a veg it would not be one I follow. Adding protien supplments like protien bars and protien drinks are vital. I started to get muscle fast when I started this regimine. Excerises are vital no one ever built on the couch.

I'm in the same boat as you, aquateen, being mostly vegan. Another thing for those of us of the vegi persuasion is to cut out or cut down on the soy as soy contains estrogen which can be detrimental to building muscle. Go with the greens as they are good sources of the same stuff that makes the meat good for you.

Not eating red meat or at least staying away from it, is one thing. Even the usual vegetarianism is excusable, but not recommended. However, strict veganism is akin to shooting your muscle in the belly with a shotgun.
If you want your physical self to evolve with the rest of you, then begin eating most if not all the E:9 foods every week. Being part of the Cthulhu Cult means re-evaluating your present lifestyle while making changes for the better.

I respectfully disagree, Master Satanis, as there a vegan sources one can get the same benefits one can get from the foods in the Emerald Nine. Give me a little time & I will be happy to report on what I dig up. I have a number of excellent works on the subject.

I would have to agree with Lord Satanis. While I am pro-vegan. It is not the ideal way to gain muscle mass. Nor the ideal diet in general.
Note; sumo wrestlera eat a strict vegaterian diet and they have a ton of muscle. Vegaterianism offers better protiens than just beans. You would have to consume so much to gain the ideal ammout of muscle mass.
Dont get me wrong I support your efforts and would love to be proven wrong. Its just that I am in doubt.

I'm glad to see this! There are way too many unfit witches and magicians out there. Keeping fit means energy. Our body is a vessel for energy. We are primates, animals, and exercise unleashes that instinct. I'm also happy to see I do over half of the Emerald Nine already in my routine. That shows that my made up routine isn't too far off, lol.

Master, Hopefully this will reduce the amount of Plump Dark Wizards in the LHP! (j/k) Although plump Witches not so bad.. But SERIOUSLY.. being out of shape shouldnt be a factor in the LHP. Cthulhu is a Warpriest of the Old Ones.. we should follow his path.. Strong and Spirit AND Body. The LHP is about the mastery of BOTH. In a Way I think of Satan being the Lord of the Earth (and the flesh) while Cthulhu is the Lord of the Will/Spirit. Remember: Eldritch AND Infernal people! Also a good crunch like movement to work the side adominal muscles is too set forward like you did like a half-situp with your knees up (crunch? hehe) but alternate reaching from one heel to another.. THAT shows you some muscles that get neglected! AWAKE!

Yes, beans are decent form of protein.
What do you mean by NOT milk protein based? Are you saying avoid Whey or Casein protein? I include both those (more Whey than Casein) in my protein shakes all the time; plus I drink at least one large glass of organic skim milk a day.
Also, congratulations on you accomplishment. That's a lot of fat loss! Keep up the great work.

Hey buttercup here. I eat fish couple times per week. I eat meat once every couple of weeks or my wife will hit me with a stick. Most of the recipes out there can be done with morningstar vegie chop meat and other meat substitutes. Whole grain pastas and bean dishes and soups are favorites. I like many different grains and beans. Middle Easter dishes are real good. They use alot of the aforementioned I like skim milk and yogurt and different cheeses so between all I need,I think. Guest, I would very much like to see the vegan diet and how it works out with exercise. Due to health problems and age I have to go for medical clearance. Then I need to find exercises that won't exacerbate my health difficulties. The conversations in this room and others has me motivated to get stronger and have more endurance. Losing weight beyond 20 or 30 pounds doesn't sit well with me. I tend toeat more than others. If any body is in my age bracket of 56 would love to hear from you if you are active physically. Hail Satanis !

I have a strange work out that works out for me & you all might be interested. I liked working out but was never consistent at it until I came across a Gravity bar &boots. If you hate working out then i suggest getting one! Here's how it goes. Your hanging up side down & its all good. The blood rush's to your head, you feel your heart start to pump harder & all that weight comes off your spine which feels great. You can relax in this position for maybe five minutes. I dig this the most. But after that, no matter how lazy you are, your gonna have to start moving around otherwise its gonna hurt. This is the forced workout i am talking about. There is no way you can hang there indefinitely;it kills your ankles. So my first reaction is to begin small crunch's forward or backward. Maybe side to side. And thats it,YOUR HOOKED! Ok,bad joke. But the challenge is that if you wanna hang up on this device for long, you are gonna have to move. Suddenly you'll find your self up there for twenty minutes doing all kinds of exercises. YOu have to get a good one though. The more bars & a stuff its got coming off it to grab onto the better. You''ll find this fun to do after a while. I'd have three hour workouts four days a week& Ive gotta be almost as lazy as the Dude. There's probably allot of health benefits to the the blood circulation factor as well. I imagine being up right most of your life your brain probably wont mind the extra dose(in the upside down position). Or you might blow a blood vessel & die instantly. Who knows AWAKE!

Well, I personally am a muscle head of sorts and I routinely cross train. The workouts in the emerald nine will serve to help guide me in my next cycle. I'm already on a workout schedule you understand and consistency is a factor here.
Also, I too like plump women! I did marry a BBW after all! ;D
