I'm a bit bi, as is common for boys of my age. I'm happy that the CoC is pro sexual freedom. Particularly since most of the Abrahamic Religions are so stingy about it.
I do worry though that the CoC might seem a little bit too mainstream though. I like to think of myself as a fun wacko, why else would I be involved in a religious organization dedicated to a soul devouring tentacle monster?
So while I'm all for being tolerant of gays, I chose to consider that we here are tolerant of taboo and sexual deviancy.

I like to think of myself as a fun wacko, why else would I be involved in a religious organization dedicated to a soul devouring tentacle monster? "Why else", you ask? Um... Because it's a pathway to enlightenment, ultimate wisdom, and self-mastery. Because it presents a true and honest depiction of the world around us. Becuase the Cult of Cthulhu shows the way to taking reality and doing what you will with it. It is not a badge to show everyone what a "wacko" you are. It is not a name to drop when you want people to go "Oh my god... he's so weird and mysterious and different"... It is not a way to get attention, for the Great Old Ones have strong magicks around them, and they will engulf and destroy those who do not take it seriously. Consider this before you next decide to type the word "Awake!". Ia Ia! Cthulhu fhtagn!

Um... ok. The percentage can't be more than 10 or at the very most 15%.
The only reason the Cult is tolerant of gays is because we accept practically every human sexual taboo and deviancy. Personally, the idea of two men together is as repugnant to me as feasting upon broccoli covered spiders, but I'm not going to let my individual views rain on anyone's (gay pride) parade. My love for pussy is probably disgusting to some gay men. To each their own. Sexuality is part of who we are, but it's not something to judge another by.
I agree with you up to the point where you attempted to ridicule suicidemuse for not taking himself too seriously. Don't do that. Re-read the new forum rules if you have to.
All of us should consider our own actions before reading, writing, or mouthing the Work.

Ny'obstaresh, I believe you took offense at my words. I apologize for that. I also apologize for you not getting my point. It's quite understandable really. My sense of humor and the inflections of my words can't carry out very clearly through a screen.
Generally when I use phrases like "Why else?" I'm making a light mock of myself. The fact is we all have silly motives for doing things that later evolve into profound actions. As it is, I actually love the values of the CoC. When I make jokes about being a psycho or such things, I'm merely highlighting the ironic fact that when I first clicked on this website, I had no clue that it would be anything serious. I expected role players and cheesy horror writers. Maybe, to you it is an everyday fact that the CoC is full of thoughtful occultists, but to the internet surfer looking for intelligent conversation it is not by any means a given.
There are other paths to enlightenment, yet we chose to be here. For me part of this is that the Mythos speak to some intellectual part of me that revels in taboo, and my inner beast frolics in chaos and destruction. That's what I mean by "wacko."
I have a life beyond these four walls. In that life I do not mention the CoC except to people already familiar with occult or mythos topics. I do not need shock value in my life. Please do get to know me before condemning me. Six lines are easy to misinterpret. Read my other posts or message me if you wish to test my character.

I consider myself predominately straight as I enjoy women much more than I do men, however I will not deny my sexual attraction to men.
When I was young I struggled with this and often tormented myself over it to the point where I wouldn't be able to function.
There is nothing wrong with homosexuality and the presumption that there is something wrong is nothing but a social taboo forced into our minds through the process of conditioning.
I welcome and support all sexual taboos, human sexuality is incredibly complex and should go unrestrained.

Cora'Sahn presented a theory here that all people are born bi-sexual, and that sexual orientation is largely a matter of environmental pressures. It is dangerous to assume the sexuality is defined by genetics or the environment exclusively or even predominantly. This danger comes from those who concern themselves with the behavior of others, thinking (I suppose) that the behavior of others in private could somehow impact their own behavior or that of their children. To assume either a genetic or environmental reason behind sexual-orientation leads to efforts to try to control those factors, say by customized genetic-engineering or gender-restrictive social-engineering. Presuming that it is mainly environmental pressure that defines sexual-orientation could lead to laws requiring all boys to wear blue or homosexual couples to include a state-appointed member of their opposite gender in the rearing of their children.
The data is out there suggesting that genetics does play a role in sexual-orientation, but it shows not a homo/hetero division. Instead, genetically we are each predisposed to a range of gender interests. The scale would have exclusively hetero on one end, exclusively homo on the other, and truly bisexual in the middle. Crossing this x-axis would be a y-axis with pathological nymphomania on one end and true asexuality on the other. Individuals, genetically, will fall somewhere on the scale, with predisposition for certain preferences and for the expression of those preferences being genetically defined.
However, this is still a predisposition, which means that other factors will come into play. The next set of pressures toward one behavior or another would be environmental. This is an important lesson in magic, in my opinion. Environment contributes in a major way toward all our behaviors, our emotional state, even our sense of self. As children, we are obviously taught what behaviors are "appropriate" or "inappropriate", based on our parents own perspectives and the predominant social norms. Much of the conflict experienced by all sexual identities, with sexual-orientations that are socially deemed "abnormal" having the greatest degree of conflict and the dominant gender role of the social norm having the least degree of conflict, is due to the clash between genetic-predisposition and environmental-pressure. Obviously, a homosexual individual experiences this conflict in contrasting who they are attracted to with who they have been taught they should be attracted to, amongst other behaviors. Heterosexual males, the least conflicted in our current social paradigm, experience this conflict typically with the genetic urge to express themselves sexually versus the social pressure to limit their expression.
The third factor, which goes largely un-discussed by those engaged in the debate of why a person develops a certain sexual-orientation, is choice. No matter how genetically-predisposed or environmentally pressured, an individual can always choose to behave a certain way, often following an urge completely outside sexuality. There are examples of women who are lesbian-to-the-core based on genetics and environment, who marry out of financial drives, social pressures, or just the urge to fulfill some self-imposed sense of "normal". How many prisoners with long sentences, truly heterosexual in any other situation, have engaged in homosexual behavior regardless of both their genetics and their rearing?
In magic, there is a range of theories regarding sexual-orientation and how it effects the effectiveness of magic. In my reading, I have run across suggestions that the Egyptian Priesthood allowed only married men, and that homosexuality was not condoned amongst their ranks. Early Western neo-paganism was once opposed to homosexuality in ritual magic; the Great Rite was purely a union of a man and a woman who represented the male and female energies in mind, body, and spirit. Progressive thinking has since modified this conviction to allow for a greater range of preferences and perspectives. I have seen books on homosexually-oriented rituals and perspectives, especially amongst the Pagan materials, but have not personally had reason to crack one open. The research I do trust on sex in magic is focused on the orgasm itself, and has little to do with the sexual-orientation of the person having the orgasm. This suggests to me that for the purposes of generating and casting energy sexual-orientation does not matter, but also that more research clearly needs to be done.
I am interested in sexual-orientation in regards to the Work. My guess, and guess is truly the operable word here, is that sexual-identity would be a facade, an unnecessary kind of identification that is mechanical and results in assuming mechanical behaviors. I would guess that in a rightly running machine, the sexual urge is engaged in by several centers, with an aware being defining their own preferences and engaging in the sexual practices that best fit their needs; such needs may be transitional. This is not to say that an aware being would be sexually ambiguous, but rather they would be inclined toward a particular orientation purely by choice, regardless of genetic-predisposition or environmental-pressures. An aware being might be sexually fearless, taking his her pleasures at whim where they may.

Yes, that was very much worth reading, Priest of R'lyeh Ego Diabolus.
That does make sense. Here's my question: is activating new, higher areas of our sexual center akin to achieving gnosis via traditional sex magic? I've never read a book which focuses on sex in the Work, so perhaps it's up to us to explore this terrifying vista?

I can only theorize, but this is total speculation on my part. My understanding of all the ideas we are discussing; the Work, sexuality, and sex-magic, is limited to my own experiences, perspectives, and woefully incomplete research.
I speculate that the awakened state is akin to a true epiphany, but instead of being a burst of inspiration, it is a state of continued higher-function. The Work begins with a focus on the operation of our machine because once we achieve the right operation of our mechanical selves we then have the foundation required for the development of our awareness. Observation of our machine is the only thing we can observe with any inkling of understanding, at least initially.
These bursts of high-function, or epiphany-states, are what I believe is the goal of traditional sex-magic (the Tantric goal vs the energy-casting goal). From a spiritual perspective, there is the idea that man and woman are not complete, and only begin to experience a complete state when in sexual congress with another. From this perspective, the goal of sexual congress should be the melding of two incomplete beings into one, with more than just bodily-fluids being exchanged. This state is achieved through the (perceived) merging of nervous-systems.
More modern theory offers that a state of inspiration can be achieved through orgasm, or controlled orgasm. The male orgasm involves three separate functions; stimulation, pleasurable muscle-spasm, and ejaculation. A common male boon-doggle is ejaculation without the pleasurable muscle-spasm, the infamous premature ejaculation. This can even happen without full stimulation. The opposite is what is trying to be achieved with this technique; pleasurable muscle spasm without ejaculation. Observe, and you will notice that orgasm is separate from ejaculation; they are typically not quite simultaneous.
In theory, a man can learn to separate the two functions completely, allowing the man to experience multiple-orgasms and ejaculating by choice. An additional benefit that is suggested is that each orgasm can be driven up through the chakras to the mind, resulting in euphoria or even glimpses of other planes. I have no practical experience to support these claims, but it sounds interesting.
At the same time I was studying these materials, I ran across this article on women: www.valuemd.com/relaxing-lounge/40121-womens-brains-sex.html . Since a woman's orgasm-cycle is faster than a man's, women seem to experience during sex less and less fear and anxiety with each climax. In terms of the Work, this suggests that some of the "I"s that concern doubt, fear, or confusion might be limited or muted (temporarily) through orgasm, and something like awareness may be momentarily achieved.
Perhaps these experiences can be used as a sample of things to come through the Work, or at least what is achievable through the development of certain centers. The mind could be trained to retain a strong memory of the euphoric state for later recall. Maybe we come to greater perception of our deified-self, or simply acquire more confidence and will.
I would guess that the reason so little material exists regarding the Work and sex has to do with the standards of the times in which the materials were written. The message being delivered was already far outside the norm, adding a more explored sexual dimension to the material may have made it too deviant to be acceptable. That is not to say that it was not explored, only that the materials on that exploration where not generated.
There is also the possibility that it was seen as almost purely mechanical, like breathing or digestion. There is an argument for that point; romantic love is a delusion, a result of a purely chemical reaction meant to ensure that the offspring resulting from a sexual encounter are cared for and reared properly. Perhaps it was thought that "love" functioning improperly was lustful, grounded in the physical, and is a delusion which improperly aids in procreation. Love, then, in an aware being, might be a sense of endearment and admiration, an experience that can be felt equally for a person, a rock, a moment in time...
It appears, to me, that the mechanical function of sex, especially the orgasm, can be used to facilitate certain chemical responses that could lead to an "aware" experience, one more way to nudge the cyclical rhythm along a more stable path. Awareness would result in the ability to love in a more pure, more meaningful manner.

Hail COC
I'm going to use myself as an example in this chain of postings.
I consider myslef 95% Gay 5% Bi, the reason for this, it better helps the average person internalize my sexual preferences and have managed to successfully drill it into many friends head that fact and basically stops friends and others from asking really stupid questions.
I mostly 80/20, the reason being, is I'm into the dominance side of sex and I respond better most of the time being dominated and dominating the same sex. With males its to do with control and dominance (having quite figured out what female/female represents, any anwsers on this one?).
I am known to fall for the opposite sex quite frequently and sometimes quite hard.
I can choose to lead a mostly straight or BI lifestyle If I want to, however my liking for sexual dominance is the main sexual driving force I have. I choose to be brutally honest with myself regarding this aspect.
My sexuality is a huge part of my driving force, that it helped lead me into the occult path. Way back in 2005, I realised in order for me to be whole and at peace with myself I knew I had to embrace my dark side as well as my light. So I embraced it, and as I embraced it, I came to the enlightenment that even though I couldn't see the paths in fornt of me, I knew what paths I was going to take before I took them and why, therefore I knew the reasons for my past actions and why and I understood the present and why.
I made this revelation after a few friends told me to bottle it in and throw away the key. My friends was concerned after finding my pron stash. Let's just say that in terms of vanilla, I'm not very vanilla. They what you call my type NO LIMITS EXTREMIST and thats just in the niciest possible term.
And then as the years passed slowly, the more occult material I read, the more I understood and realted to it, cos In a way I already had crossed the line into the unknown.
Then this year some stuffed happened in my life and I unintentionally found by own ABYSS that I had to cross through. That break through kind of stunned me abit, due to realized the reason why the ABYSS showed itself to me, was I fully understood and embraced my sexuallity and I was going WOW and OMG.
Therefore I would like to learn more about sex magic/rituals and blood magic/rituals as I have discovered when I found my ABYSS that my sexual engery is a big part on how my magic works for me.
That's one side of the story.
The other side of the story is I don't trust hetrosexuals when they say they don't have a problem with my sexuality. To me that hetrosexual needs to prove it to me again and again. I have been suckered punched enough times in the gut to know.
Example, You say you don't have a problem with someones sexual preference, then you guy make fun of that person behind their back. WTF? In my book you do or don't. It is that simple!
Then you got those you are the only gay I like and in my mind I'm going here we go again. Its the same when people say I don't like asians, but I like you.
WTF?
The straight community or a straight individual has a lot to prove to me when they say they don't have a problem with my sexuality.
Please don't write back in support and that you really don't have a problem when you do.
Why?
Due to it being accepted these days to treat people different from us with respect it leads to the STAYUS QUO EFFECT.
So the individual says one thing and the body language says another.
!!!Body language never lies!!!
I rather someone say to myself I'm a fucking animal and that I should be castrated or that I'm a fucking dirty yellow belly than be nice to me and then bitch behind on me back.
I trust those more who say I am a fucking animal more than someone being nice cos its the right thing to do. The reasons are obvious
And once again I most likely not to believe a word you say if you are straight t and say that you don't have a problem with gays.
Also I need to point out, I am COMFORTABLE WITH MY SEXUALITY and am not a CLOSETED GAY as most people confuse me for afte disscussions like this.
Finally when I meant I'm going to use myself as an example, I meant it. So I you have any nagging questions you ever wanted to ask a type of person like me and why the occult
etc etc,
just FIRE AWAY!!!

yes, gays are cool in our book... that being the Necronomicon. really, whatever sexual preference you have is up to you. the only thing i choose to officially frown upon is child molestation (although that depends on age and consent, individuals will certainly have different views).
additionally, i support gay marriage, as well as, plural marriage. we have a number of homosexual Cultists already.
VS I agree except for marriage because I believe the concept of marriage is religious in nature and since religion(in a general sense) doesn't except gays. Awake!

This act which they would have me partake in i refused, but from what i understand could this not have made me gay(or want to partake). AWAKE

The reasons are obvious And once again I most likely not to believe a word you say if you are straight t and say that you don't have a problem with gays. Also I need to point out, I am COMFORTABLE WITH MY SEXUALITY and am not a CLOSETED GAY as most people confuse me for afte disscussions like this. Finally when I meant I'm going to use myself as an example, I meant it. So I you have any nagging questions you ever wanted to ask a type of person like me and why the occult etc etc, just FIRE AWAY!!! Belief Is Reality Loki Dreaming Ps- Cheers Xor'Nefth-Rahm fot the link in this chain of postings. Good call. I get what you're saying about dominance and the male-male, male-female dynamic. Embracing the darker side of ones sexuality is incredibly important. By analyzing and interpreting these experiences (i.e. with BDSM, role-play, etc. Or even perhaps being exposed to pornography that one is unfamiliar with or even averse to the idea of) we learn more about our Selves and gain a better understanding of our own consciousness. This is vital to the personal development of a shaman/warlock/witch/mage. I applaud your honesty. Ia! Ia!

yes, gays are cool in our book... that being the Necronomicon. really, whatever sexual preference you have is up to you. the only thing i choose to officially frown upon is child molestation (although that depends on age and consent, individuals will certainly have different views).
additionally, i support gay marriage, as well as, plural marriage. we have a number of homosexual Cultists already.
VS I agree except for marriage because I believe the concept of marriage is religious in nature and since religion(in a general sense) doesn't except gays. Awake! I'd say before there was religion of anysort people wheree getting hitched.

Nice insight into the matter of homosexuality in the Cult of Cthulhu or LGBT people, though the Old Ones and Cosmic beings related to Cthulhu or those summoned in the NECRONOMICON or other dark occult tomes, are not likely to care about simian human copulations, the human Abramic/Karmic condemning religions and Godforms are filled with homosexuality as a condemned taboo. On the NETFLIX movie rentals club, there is also the recently made CTHULHU which is a Gay male protagonist version of the SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH as a feature movie. Homosexuality as blasphemy ritual energy can fuel resonances with non human intradimensionals too.

Cora'Sahn presented a theory here that all people are born bi-sexual, and that sexual orientation is largely a matter of environmental pressures.
(Well if environmental pressures is what causes one to be a certian sexuality then i should be str8 then...but i'm not,so i doubt it's environmental pressures,I think as to us gays we are gat because biology programmed us that way..after all we can't all be breeding like bunnies ya know)
It is dangerous to assume the sexuality is defined by genetics or the environment exclusively or even predominantly.

Speaking from a personal point of view. Too often gender roles are confused with sex. If I had to sit here and claim what my sexual orientation was that would be impossible. It is free form ever changing as my life changes. Too often people become so concerned with "why" instead of just realizing they "are".

Wow, that is the longest thread I read in a while LOL. But that has always concerned me as well. Since I am transgendered female to male, and attracted to women only mentally and physically (The kind of girl who has breasts and of course a vagina haha), I have often wondered what role sexuality did play when it comes to Awakening. Now it is clearer. Unfortunately for me it took a long time to wake up to that due to all the suffering and pain from being ignorant. But there is one other obstacle I am facing, though as a transgendered man. People are so focused and mechanical on what they are told or taught about the gender we choose to carry. I think it is because they are so attached to associating gender with what is between the legs. I have to deal with the family that have a hard time calling me by "male" pronouns, like "he", "him", "brother" and that type of thing. I realize though these are the products from unawakened people, it is a challenge for them because they will have to move beyond THEMSELF. I honestly feel that the true meaning of transgendered means transcending-gender the one you have now. Because if you think about it that is what is what awakening is about? And once you truly awaken you can choose the gender you wish to portray to the world, and depending on people's views on what they believe gender is, that can either be productive or not for the transgendered person in question.
The same can be applied to homosexuality (gay and lesbian) alike, I view it as an exploration of yourself. A lesbian for an example is a woman who likes women but does not call themselves "masculine" or butch, but they are just the way they are. Anyway my point is, that it Is like exploring yourself, the person with the same gender that can too, be used for Awakening, same is applied to bisexual and gay people. So I already knew the Cult of Cthulhu had no issue with homosexuality. Sexuality in and of itself, can be a tool for Awakening.

The only proviso with all the discussions concerning bisexuality and homosexuality is that of 'homophobic' bullying. A female can play 'psychological rape' games on a male; i.e. taunt a (gay) male about 'lack of sexual performance' with members of the opposite sex. Or the woman could also infer that a (gay) male is making 'unwanted advances' at them. This tactic may still be used to quash a gay person if they try to express modern concepts like 'homophobia', and is reductive in nature.
