There is something that I want to ask in relation to the text in The Forth Way. In it, it explains about Man No.1 being that which is driving predominately by instinctive and moving functions and intellectual and emotional drives are underdeveloped. Man No.2 is that who is driven predominately by emotional functions and Man No.3 is that who is driven predominately by intellectual functions. Man No. 4, 5, 6, and 7 it talks about as having higher senses of consciousness. Afterward, it speaks of influences. Influences A being those of material and earthly possessions, Influences B being those that are religious, and Influence C being the Influences developed after being in contact with a group who's predominate goal is that which is focused on Influences B. Coming into contact with these people or this group is the first step into ascending to Man type 4, 5, 6, and 7. Does that mean that all who have come into contact with this Cult and has attempted to understand its contents have taken the first step into becoming the Man types 4, 5, 6, and 7?

For starters, it's spelled Fourth not Forth.
That is a gross oversimplification and one that may get you in trouble. My definition of Influences B would be this: Concepts and impressions which attempt to transcend ordinary life. In that case, some forms of religion would be part of Influence B, as would certain types of philosophy, psychology, art, etc. Another definition of B Influences might illustrate that they are a degenerate form of C Influences.
Yes, it does. Knowing about the Cthulhu Cult and using its teaching to better yourself already brings you nearer to Man #4. Read some of the blog posts for a better understanding of the progression and what is involved: cthulhu-cult.com/

The fourth way was unknown to me before this. Ive probably implemented many of its teachings from whet Ive seen on line. I have my own crazy ideas about dance & postures used in dancing. For one, why do mosh pits in the northern hemisphere always go counter clockwise? Is it different on the southern hemisphere? But I have always been interested in self improvement. Focus & visualization are key. Ive changed allot of my reality through visualization. But finding Ouspensky's work is difficult. I would love anything you guys have on it.

I just got done reading about the fourth way from Wikipedia & realize iv been doing my own version of it for years. Ill be purchasing the book soon I hope. The version I use is done through a strenuous work out. At the height of physical stress, Im able to focus my"I'"s into one. The experience is quite emotional & extremely cathartic. But Its when I push my self past the breaking point while at the same time focusing on my goals & my one "I" that Im able to enter the desired state of consciousness.
You know your at that moment when your body is not whats moving, its your will. Quite the experience when you dont feel pain or exhaustion. Yet your still able to move. AS if your being moved by your will alone. Working out in this blurry, trance like state requires a lot of concentration &will. Some times I'll feel doubt for about a second; and in that second the physical pain wash's over you. Reminding you that its your WILL alone that makes the impossible possible.
After this kind of work out,the feeling is definitely supernatural. Every thing is in slow motion. Movement is deliberate & focused. As if there is total meaning, & purpose behind each movement. I definitely feel HIGH. For lack of a better word. So from this description, would you say Im practicing a fourth way experiment?
Next is fasting. The most I can pull of is three days. No food, only liquids. After day one, Ill need at least 15% concentration to maintain the focus of will. After day two, that hurts. Definitely 50% concentration & your mind is cracking hard. At this level I could meditate and achieve a nice level of oneness. And thats cool. But its the third day that really pays off. Running on 75% concentration, your body hates you. It exhausting just to talk. And this is the perfect state of mind to meditate. At this point Im in such good communication with my soul that to stop concentrating hurts. Its like your body demands you fill your body with some sort of energy. Your forced to imagine air filling you. Life filling you. Hell, I'll even imagine absorbing the matter of objects in the room with me. Anything! That's the only way to keep from cracking like a baby. But the Will that's powering me is supernatural. Its really empowering is what it is.
To meditate at this point is almost a must. Your body demands it. With in minutes of closing my eyes Im in. A straight shot into what ever vibrational realm I desire. Instant weightlessness. Instant embracing of all things.
So my question is, are these aspects of the fourth way Im practicing. They sound like it from what Ive read. Sorry if they seem extreme. But I've always been able to summon more WILL by putting my body through extremes.
Thought?
Hail Cthulhu!

Extreme, yes... but perfectly valid.
I've used the focus and will required for weight lifting to change reality, as in reaching a state of gnosis to achieve magical results. It worked for me. As for the fasting, that's more dangerous. I'm not sure I can recommend more than a single day of fasting at one particular time. Just the same as dropping multiple hits of acid over and over might produce new gateways of consciousness... but at what cost?
I'm going to include this in our Directory of Awesome Posts because of its extreme nature and novel approach to self-remembering. Yes, I believe you have a decent handle on what the Fourth Way is about, boksmutanis. However, don't slack when it comes to understanding it on new levels.

just curious, how many of you know about the Fourth Way? have read about it on your own before or after joining the Cult of Cthulhu forum?
in these last few nights, i've been thinking about the Cult's direction, focus, and goals. it seems to me that the 4th way is an increasingly fruitful avenue... becoming one of the central pillars holding our organization aloft.
if the CoC is to become, or maintain itself as, a real 4th way school, then sufficient attention must be paid. we must treat the Cult as if it were a 4th way school. a re-organizing of our slimy green order... not a new direction, but a sharpening of our course. precision. determination. struggling against ourselves.
continue to use our forum; it's an important communication tool. please try and post something significant, interesting, or germane to the ongoing discussions every single week. you will surely get out of the CoC what you put in. that is my promise.

I found this documentary useful, in pin-pointing why Ouspensky conceptualized some of Gurdjieff's work in the manner he has.
Another correlation I've made, is to Gurdjieff's ideas and the Yezidi people, often mistaken for Devil Worshipers. I think it's one thing to read 'about' the Yezidis and quite another to study their texts, and consider their views.
Another useful bit, was a paper I found written by J. Walter Driscoll, entitled 'The Art of G.I. Gurdjieff' which offers a useful bibliography and highlights of Gurdjieff's works.
I also ripped this monster Torrent of esoteric writing. An entire folder containing over 100 pieces of Fourth Way study. Among the lot, was a 4 page photo copy of hand-written notes by Gurdjieff called '48 exercises', which lends hints as to how Gurdjieff conceptualized these ideas and put them to use in exercises.

Master Satanis, I do believe that the COC could become a legit Fourth Way school, but there will be some that would say it would be considered a fake school. How do we prove to the people who doubt?
Through hard work and ultimately in time all that is good will prevail. Most hold the Fourth Way teachings sacred, or something that should remain as is. We know here, that the work can and will be done in a way that will succeed, just like any other Fourth Way school does, or possibly better.

To answer the original question, I never heard of Fourth Way before bumping into the CoC but it seems very similar to Jungian Self-Actualization, which I already knew thoroughly.

According to some people, such as doctor Elizabeth Kubler Ross, death of the physical self is the same for everyone, whether Hindu, Jew, Christian or athiest. Death is a certainty, but is will be analagous to a butterfly emerging from its cocoon. We will shed our physical selves and enter a newer psychic state.

Praise is one thing, and it's nice from time to time, but results are another. Lip service alone won't do anyone any good. We cannot achieve these sought after results without first applying the Work to our own lives.
I appreciate the support, but post details if you want your progress taken seriously.

The 4th way for me was something that I was conceiving on my own before I found the forum or read Cthulhu Cult. After reading Cthulhu Cult and spending time on the forum I had a great epiphany where things clicked and the connection had been made. From that point on I became very interested in the 4th way more than about anything else I had ever studied. The emphasis on the 4th way is my main connection to the forum and the topic I read about the most on here. Mostly because it is just honestly very fascinating.

Thanks for the question Master Satanis. The one I was involved with was from Italy, and I was working with a student from one of the schools. She was big on a Big Little Special Daily Moment, which could be anything from the smallest thing to the biggest thing that happened to you that day. Big on Impressions and focusing on doing some kind of daily Work, such as opening and closing a door, each time focusing more on each movement. All in all just communicating and being loving, caring and honest with one another. I have since lost contact with her but she wanted to be a teacher but very hard to do so over there, they are very set in their ways and the schools are very tough and very strict. A very good learning experience and I'm glad to back here. I hope I could help somewhat but there's really not that much difference really. Ia' Ia' Cthulhu fhtagn!

Brother Satanis, You said to get the book(The Fourth Way) and read it. It's been around a month and still on page 23. Keep having to go back to page one and start over;but smart runs in my family and this old girl loves a challenge. I love this book. I think every couple who has a baby should be handed this book too because it is the owners manuel for the human species. Every child at school in fourth grade should be given that book and it should be a required subject because The Fourth way is a jumping board for our humanity to become more, evolution is the only hope we have of surviving. We have to evolve into what people consider God to be. Thus We must become God. It's not going to happen for even one of us if the word does not go out on a massive scale and people are going to have to understand that they personally may not make it through the coming of days, sacrifice is going to be a must. Then evolution will come to fruition. None of this is going to happen without You Brother,Master and Lord,Messiah Satanis. I worry for your safety, that's how important Your part is to the human evolution. You Are The Way,and no man cometh before the Old Ones but through You. You are The One who is going to open that "portal" and bring our Old Ones back to earth. They shall smite the Lesser Gods, those enemies of old and they shall be thrown out into utter darkness for eternity. That's how the book and You affect me.And only have been here for four weeks. Still wet behind the ears but that's what been gotten out of the book by me so far. Awake!

Hello Brother Satanis and all others who may read this. I am adding a few words that was forgotten by me in my other post. I see The Fourth Way book as a manual or even Bible for humanity but I know that we humans are demons and as such that would make Master Satanis the worlds demon Messiah, not the one spoke of in the KJV Bible that those truly evil Lesser Gods manipulate. That is all, just wanted to set it straight that I see no angels wings and pearly gates when it comes to our esteemed leader. I see an Emerald Throne. The Cult of Cthulhu Shall Never Die!

The Fourth Way seems to use the concept of the many ‘I’s’ that make up the divided human psyche, but I think this idea is also used in standard Christian meditation. The ‘I’ stands for the smaller, egoic self. The ‘real’ self is the larger, and accessible through meditation and the practice of interior silence. Interior silence can only be gained through first meditating through outer silence. It’s like a series of concentric circles.

At this stage, and for every human being without extensive esoteric training, a true self or permanent/master 'I' does not exist. We can enter states which are more conscious than others, but that is all... in the beginning.

I am still working on your forth way teachings and I must say that I agree that part of the fourth way teachings that I have understood so far is that it is a door that only you can walk into and open with Ascension and transformation from your old self to your higher self, higher being of consciousness and understanding. I will be putting together an essay in time when I have understood more of the fourth way teachings. Ia Ia Cthulhu Ftagin!!

Re Venger's comment: The main flow of the Christian concept of meditation is 'Spiritual Awakening/Awareness' rather than perhaps 'real' self. I think Buddhism uses the notion of 'no-self' as you seemed to allude to, and I think this is where the Eastern concept of spirituality departs from the Christian.
