I just found "Alice's Last Adventure" by Thomas Ligotti in a old horror book (Prime Evil) on my bookshelf. I shall read it now, it has long bugged me that i have not read any Ligotti. I have heard so much (good).

Man... that is one awesome interview! Some of his responses are quite hilarious (and possibly infuriating to an interviewer, haha). It amazes me how much he and I have in common, I was really surprised. For some reason, I thought of him as being more... stable? I'm glad to see he's not ;D hahaha! He sounds a lot like Malefic of Xasthur; I wonder if he listens to Black Metal? If not, it seems like he'd enjoy it.

I think that it dig rather deep on some points, both question and answers.
Im digging Ligotti. Personally i have only known whatever info bits where flying around here on the forum about the man. After reading his own words i feel empowered in my impression. He has seen. Or rather, he sees. We all see, dont get me wrong, i just appreciate his particular angle or approach to the sight.
I really enjoyed reading the interview, great work.

A fine interview. Actually, I did not know that he was the guy who wrote last feast of the harliquin--which is an awesome story. I have it in some mythos collection or other, and it always stuck with me, the imagery and what-not.
And 70's prog rules, but anyways. There's always band like Sigh, mixing up that black metal flava with the old school 70's prog higinks, but I seriously have no idea why we are talking about music at a time like this.
So fine. I am motivated to finally check this Ligotti guys work out.

Due to being stuck in a tunnel, (ie. reading only occult or conspiracy books for years) I must say i was totally ignorant of Ligotti until this morning, thanks to this post and the interview. Will be sure to find some of his works and jump in, as I am in need of some good head candy. Thanks for the heads up on an interesting author. I'm off to the library...gonna tell em Cthulhu sent me.

his stuff goes out of print so fast (which hikes up the price), that i would start with whatever is the latest or whatever you can afford. beware, there are some graphic novels which adapt a few of his stories into comic book form. those are cool, but you should start with the stories themselves.
search used and new book stores in your area, google Thomas Ligotti, or just use amazon.

Danke Fur Alles. Put "Teatro" on wish list...and I did look at the graphic novels on amazon at first and was like "are they all like this?" ... I had no luck finding any Ligotti at the library or the bookstores in town....but i do have the oddest luck at the thrift stores and the moon is in my favor ((last week I found a bunch of weird tales/lovecraft fanzines titled "Etchings and Odysseys" for like .10 cents a copy,, sometimes I wonder if that is where all my esoterica will end up.))
Thanks for the info...back to Sherlock Holmes and beer.

I have finally read my first Ligotti story to the end, Alice's Last Adventure. The story is told trough a female writer of a series of children's books. It was a neat little story, it served well. I dont think that i have any more Ligotti in my book collection from my childhood, maybe i do though and maybe i have already read the stories before, i read a lot at a very early age, so its a possibility. Great writer though, i must seek out one of his master works. I feel so humbled everytime i read something like this, same when i read Lovecraft, like no matter what i write it will never get near the same level. Just makes me want to write even more
