Guilt

I am just beginning in the readings of CoC and ran across this:
"Suffering has become humanity’s God!" "Continually watch your emotional state and its fluctuations. After many daily observations, imagine that you are calm and joyful because your deepest desires and your darkest wishes are beginning to come true."
Question: I achieve the calm and joyful state regularly. The one emotion that distracts my state, though, is guilt. How can I eradicate its effect on me?

Revisualize the encounter wherein you transgressed. Imagine it in black in white, in the rain, and with sad violin music playing. Something cheesy of this nature, so you can laugh the thing off and move on.
Failing that, try to devise some reason for the offended party to have deserved whatever you did.

Get to the root of the problem. Ask yourself why you feel guilt. See what thoughts go through your head about it.

@ Wren
Thanks for the reply.
I know the root. It is a clash of my desire for self-direction and its success. The success has the potential for giving me greater release from suffering yet at the expense of others' suffering.
I can justify it. Ignore it.
But I want to determine how t deflect its effect.

I've lost respect for the vampire. That being's suffering is not my concern as it wallows in pity every day now.
I've finished both readings of CoC and Liber A:O. Gleaned only a hint of new.
I have awakened. I am in contemplation of self and know how to act.
What I want may lie in the 4th way or magic or NLP. I need control of my ingrained perspective concerning guilt. It causes suffering and is derived from empathy. I can't deflect it or divert it to progress. I see its entry into my thoughts every time I am consciously aware of my positive state.

Hi kimberly,
I'm glad to read you, it seems that you decided to Work, fine ! You're on the good place. And now about this thread :I have awakened. I am in contemplation of self and know how to act. Well, that's your first objective !
Continue to work on it, and if you succeed, then among other things... any kind of guilt will be over.

The thing about guilt is: did you ask for or want what the guilt relates to?
Or is it pity?

No. I did not 'ask for nor want what the guilt relates to; not at all.
It's not pity. It's regret.

It's not pity. It's regret. Of course "I" (certainly not the same "I" as I am today) did many regrettable things in my past. I have no regrets, it was not me, I was sleeping. Only the present matters. With the present you not only control the future, but the past as well, the past is taking a different signification.
NOW is the moment of Awakening !

What an interesting perspective.
But I have never been completely asleep. Just waiting for the alarm. Ignorance can never be an excuse, but I agree. I don't believe in regret. It's wasted energy. So, likewise, guilt is wasted energy.
