Forgive my ignorance but I suppose I came in too late to know what the ONA is. It's some kind of satanic group yes?

The Order of the Nine Angles is a group of which employs various religions as vehicles for its central doctrine of "Sinister Honor." One of the religions its uses is "Traditional Satanism," which holds the majority of its disciples. The group gained internet notoriety for being one of the only Satanic groups to legitimately espouse human sacrifice. If you go to archive.org and search "Satanism" under the "Books" category, you will find many of their manuscripts in PDF form, all free. Despite my disagreements with the group, much of its literature is certainly worth a read. If you're at all familiar with Michael Ford (Luciferian author), he wrote a lot of its early material under the name "Thornian," though he no longer associates with the group. The Cult of Cthulhu (this group) came into conflict with it after Lord Venger Satanis declared himself its new leader.

I feel this isn't something to take too seriously especially if they're posting topics like that publicly. It just seems really dumb.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like a group I wouldn't be interested in. Or want to be associated with.

Personally, I'm tired of hearing about the ONA in the same way that I'm tired of hearing about Kim Kardashian, for nearly the exact same reasons.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like a group I wouldn't be interested in. Or want to be associated with. It is important to remember that a sect's violent proclivities do not undermine or contraindicate its metaphysical or theological postulations. Their insights and worldviews are definitely worth perusal, even to one who has disdain for their extremism. Could someone who thought that the veneration of Cthulhu was ludicrous not still find wonderful insights among Lord Satanis's writings? Speaking of Venger, he certainly saw something worth redeeming amongst the O9A's doctrines. Wouldn't you at least give him the benefit of the doubt?

ISIS and Anonymous manage to get away with a lot of public statements and instructions. Gang members don't have much of a problem doing TV interviews. I don't see the problem.

There's nothing worthwhile in the ONA that relates to their extremeism nor has to be talked about as if the ONA has a copyright or trademark on it.
There's a few interesting things about visualization in one of their older books, and there's the star game that's great for elementary visualization of systems.
Note that the words 'system' and 'visualization' are not the abbreviation: ONA.
If someone's interested in visualization, they talk about visualization. If they're interested in systems, they talk about systems. I'm interesting in these things, and not interested making them appear proprietary as if they belong to a certain group as certain sects (the douchebag kind) of Christians tend to do.
So I challenge you to talk about what you've learned without using their name or any of their jargon.

I second shawnhartnell's challenge. That is my benifit of the doubt.
As another note, no matter how pretty the ideals are, at the end of the day it's the results that count.
Even though the CoC's ideals are a bit (understatement) outlandish, our wisdom is not corroded by our brothers doing something extreme such as sacrificing your cat in the tub. (As a random example.)
There may be tidbits of wisdom in the ONA and I'm open to learning them. It'd be silly not to.

At the very least, the ONA puts forth the idea of being a "real group" which "does things," even if we find its activities completely stupid.
This is a lot more than many satanist groups can say.
Something Venger was saying when I talked to him on the phone 2 months ago was that 4th Way groups seem to need 2 goals to be successful -- first, they must act as a School in the sense of encouraging Awakening of their members, but also that they just need some other possibly arbitrary goal to really put practical effort toward, or they lack energy and momentum.
I wonder what CoC could be if it took these things to heart.

Every wannabe occult order puts forth the idea of being a real group.
Would you mind starting a new thread to discuss the Cult, instead? Thanks.

I've locked this thread because if you have a problem with any group which isn't the Cult, then you should really take it up with them.
Secondly, we're doing our own thing here, and don't need to compare ourselves with other groups.
Regarding my comments in this thread -- yes, members certain groups seem like pokemon to me -- they only seem capable of saying the name of their group, repeatedly, ad nauseum.
